Wow! I feel enlightened to live in such an open minded state.

Quote:members of the State Board of Community Colleges said they favor reversing a ban that has kept undocumented students out of degree programs at the state's 58 community colleges for the past year. It was the board's first public discussion of the issue since it exploded into a statewide controversy in late 2007.

Why shouldn't the non-taxpaying individuals be able to use state services.

Here comes the enlightened statement only a TRUE liberal thinker could come up with...

Quote:Dr. Stuart Fountain, a retired Asheboro dentist who heads the board's policy committee, said the colleges should not stand in the way of any person who wants an education.

“Without this option, we are creating a second-class citizenry,” Fountain said.

Shouldn't you be a LEGAL resident before you are counted as a citizen. North Carolina had to scale back programs at community colleges, lay off faculty and reduce other services and the solution is to flood this system with thousands more students?!?

Illegal-immigrant college ban reviewed

They cite a study that ending the ban would not create a burden on taxpayers, tuition does not cover program costs by any means, so how does adding thousands of students NOT create a burden to someone?
Utter madness. Anything can be justified by these liberal loony air-heads. Real world issues do not concern them. I am reminded of the women after Obama's election, who said she wouldn't have to pay her bills, mortgage, food or car payment now that the anointed was elected.
Come out to the Left Coast. Illegals get the in-state resident tuition discount that out of state residents don't get.

Well, that's understandable, you guys have that enormous budget surplus you can afford things like that.

Quote:During the heated tax debate, Budget Conference Committee member Senator Alan Lowenthal (D-Long Beach) offered his hesitant support for the new tax proposals by saying that the state should do everything to “live within its means.” In an effort to seemingly admonish Senator Lowenthal for his hesitant support for the tax measures, Budget Conference Committee Chairwoman Noreen Evans (D-Santa Rosa) closed the debate by saying that as far as the state is concerned, “living within our means, means nothing.”

Apparently CA has an infinite source of funds to draw on.

Yeah, it's called taxes.
I could care less...as long as they pay their own way. I oppose ANY of my wages being used to finance their educations other than the support that already goes to the CC system.

C'mon Fo, you're smarter than that. Increasing the demand on colleges will increase the price. That means legal citizens, who've contributed to the system for years, will now be required to pay more, in effect they're penalized by these newcomers.

Secondly, since tuition doesn't cover all fees, then the legal taxpayers are now subsidizing these others.

Thirdly, whether it's reduced parking, a shortage of textbooks, or fewer office hours w/ an instructor, increased enrollment reduces the finite resources that are available, effectively stealing from those who have paid for it.

Finally, more enrollment means more degrees granted. This may or may not be a bad thing considering your position. If talented people graduate, they've earned a place in the market, and the market will benefit. But, given the Gaussian distributions, it is likely there will simply be a large increase in average-calibre students. This means more competition in job hunting for legal residents, despite the fact that they paid full price (sometimes more) for their credentials.

I read a similar quote from a CA attorney who defended in deportation suits.

Uh hello, they're NOT CITIZENS AT ALL.

Too many people, especially those who went thru college on an easy track, don't realize how much hard work has been put into this country. They had it easy so they figure it was that way for everyone...and since it's so easy, it's wrong to withhold that from anyone.
.

It is going to have to be Orwell's 1994 to pay for all this crap.

The Government will give you a job, a house, transportation, food, clothing, and other necessities, but you will draw no Pay Check.

To pay for this never before seen kinds of debt, the Free Market will have to die and all people will have to work for the Government.

No freedoms and basically a prison where you get no frills or perks and the Government rakes in the money like during the Slave Days.

If any of you believe that we can pay for all this CRAP this DUDE is shoveling down our throats, then happy Fairy Tale Land to you.

If you can't read like Robert and RockyMtSpottedFeverTick, I suggest trying to find a DVD of Orwells '94 and see where this is going.

When all this "STUFF" is tallied out, and we are looking at at least 50 Trillion Dollars of pure raw Debt and all the Countries on Earth can't make up that kind of grind .... the only way to do it is go back to Slavery, but a Kinder-Gentler Slavery.

This is pure madness and I guess it is good that Congress just Apologized for Slavery since they are going to have to do all over again to pay for Obamagogs Bullsh't.

Enjoy .....

Orwell's '94 must be REALLY futuristic.

If they pay their way....I have NO problem with the portion of my stolen wages going to the rest of the subsidy. I prefer this in lieu of most of the other uses of my stolen money. Education is a gateway to prosperity and advances societies.... I do not care how or who gets it. I just demand that they PAY the tuition.

I understand your arguments and they are valid....I have no problem with the CC system responding to market signals and pricing their product in line with competition. Higher education is also a business.

It wasn't about just being set in the year 1994 you dweeboid .... it was about a Big Brother Governmental Society that enslaves you to so it can survive its own debt and foolishness.

It is a timeless piece that has nothing to do with it HAVING to occur in 1994 - - it was a warning of What Will Come if we go down the road we are headed at break neck speed right now.

But then a man of your Caliber knows best about these things and Obamagog is the Man for You huh GP ???

Does he snuggle good with you at night hun ???

Absurd and simplistic.

I absolutely do apologize for the 1994 mix up ..... that was my typo bad and since our TOTUS has been no more than a Debt Creator and Apologist, I figure I am good to go for a piece of that Forgiveness.

Orwell's 1984 is the Correction for all who are concerned and I know this mix up must have blown a lot of your minds so, in the shadow of the Greatest TOTUS in History, I "Apologize" !!!!!!!

Thank you for helping to see the error of my ways on this one .... it could truly have been devastating had we not gotten it under control so quickly ... 04-rock 04-rock 04-rock
