Pizze Stone on Overton Park.

I was excited about having a NEW neighborhood pizza joint, so we tried it out last night. Not busy when we got there, plenty of seating. Sit down and order. Place fills up. After an hour and a half of waiting for our food, a table that was seated about 45min after us started to receive their order. Previous to this we kept getting "it's on the way", "your up next", "the kitchen got backed up" (how? we ordered way before anyone when the place was empty kempty). Upon seeing another table that was seated well after us get their order, we got just a little bit heated. Finally a manager/owner/apologizer comes over after and hour and forty-five minutes to tell us they lost our order ticket. WTF??!! It's not like this place is HUGE and our table could get lost in obscurity. They had to know that we didn't get our food before an hour and forty-five minutes. We got up and walked the F out, hit Memphis Pizza Cafe in Midtown just before they closed and had a wonderful (yet late) dinner.

Pizze Stone, you...

Note to Self: don't piss off Poppaslaw.

I'm on a mission, my friend.

They didn't even offer us any kind of compensation for our time or anything. Nothing to even get us to come back and give it a second chance. The place is brand friggin' new and in this economy, I just can't fathom how they could seem to not care at all about the first impression they were making to a neighborhood customer. A customer within walking distance and potential to buy lots of takeout pizza.
Duly noted. Reminds me of a restaurant in east Tennessee that took 45 minutes to fill an order for 4. Waiter's excuse: "Um, you won't believe this, but 4 people on the other side of the restaurant ordered the exact same thing as you and it went to them first. Weird, huh?"
i'm not going to go to a pizza place where they can't spell "pizza."

Man, to have that happen is one thing...but, for them not to go out of their way to keep your business is absolutely absurd. Owners wonder why their restaurants fail...THIS is a big reason. Like you stated, in this economy, businesses can't afford to have lackluster customer service. Hate that you had such an experience...Memphis Pizza Cafe kicks ass though 04-rock ...so, at least you got a good meal after that experience. (bigtime Tiger supporters there as well 03-wink )

Restaurant owners should know this for sure - on average:
*One happy customer tells three people that tell three people
*One un-happy customer tells ten people who tell ten people
03-idea Don't piss people off...its not good for business 05-nono

Thanks for the warning! 04-cheers
Went to Fresh Slices for dinner tonight. It was great as usual. Saw Pizze Stone, thought about trying it. I'm glad I didn't and probably won't ever after reading this. It's unimaginable that they wouldn't beg you to stay and eat for free.

I thought the name was dumb too Maeby.
