Channel surfing last weekend and I stumbled on this movie. After 5 minutes I was hooked. Great portrayal by Will Smith in this mostly true story.

Watching the misfortune this guy had to put up with while achieving his goal-becoming a stock broker-was really unbelievable. He didn't know how to quit!

I saw Chris Gardner outside the Trump International Tower in Chicago. He had a ballin' car. Got out, flipped the keys to the valet like it was nothin'. His license plate said Pursuit.
Wow, cool. It was a great story, saw it a while back. Smith acting with his son was pretty cool, that scene in the train station rest room with his foot on the door was powerful, he said he was barely acting because he had his boy there in the scene with him and he imagined it was real.

I went through a rough spell a while back in the early nineties, nothing like him, but it's easy to see how a series of events could turn your life into homeless chit in a hurry. "When it rains it pours" is the expression that kept coming to mind.

The social safety net is pretty thin for all of us these days. You're only a bad break or two away from the restroom in that train station. I agree with you, that scene was powerful.
