The city of L.A., the State of CA, or the US taxpayers. This is perhaps the biggest insult to taxpayers yet. For now the city of L.A. will pay $1million and the Lakers organization will pay $1million. $1million could pay the salary of 20 city employees making $50K/yr.

Straight from the headlines...

This is a for profit business with high paid millionaires getting a taxpayer paid parade for what they get paid to do.

Is there a problem with this picture. 04-jawdrop

What's worse as CA's economy tanks, they are looking for the US Taxpayers to bail them out, no doubt that bailout will trickle down the city of LA and ultimately the LA Lakers. 03-puke

Maybe it's the 1,200 city of L.A. employees who are paying for the parade with their jobs!!!
I guess stimulus money could be used to rebuild/restock the stores that got looted and replace the cars that got burned. Why do idiots always riot and destroy the very neighborhoods they live in? Friggin lunatics...

And screw the parade. I never understood why people go to heap praise on athletes/celebrities who will never know them, and, quite frankly, will never care for them.
I do not understand the mentality of anyone that would destroy private property during a victory celebration. The entire concept that..."MY" team won!!!!...and...now lets go turn over some cars!!!!....totally escapes me.

I don't understand it either. Its not just an "NBA thing" either.. you have idiots in Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh. Of course 100% of the participants are drunk/FUBAR.

I remember when the Rockets won the NBA Championships back in the 90's there has a high Police presence all over the City--and nothing happened because it was known that no garbage would be tolerated.

If Americans had respect for private property rights...this crap would not happen.
Its a sad commentary on society that people get so fired up supporting collectives. The individual is becoming extinct.

I get upset with the members of these collectives that fail to speak out against this type of activity. Jackson and Kobe certainly have the influence to come out beforehand and talk about how to celebrate with damaging property. I really believe it would reduce some of these problems.03-idea
