This is pretty impressive for first-year head coach Pawel Gajdzik. NIU tennis hasn't been very successful in the past. Our best player in 2006 and 2007, two-time first team All-MAC Brian Livingston, transferred to U of Illinois.

Quote:Powerful Huskies
When we looked over the mid-major classes, one program stood out above the rest: Northern Illinois. Head coach Pawel Gajdzik has put together a five-man class with a great deal of international experience. Szymon Tatarczyk and Jurica Grubisic both have career-high ITF rankings in the top 70. Grubisic even has a win over new 2009 NCAA champion Devin Britton. Add in a couple more players with ITF rankings inside the top 250, and you get the top mid-major class. This group would have been in our Top 25 overall classes, but we did not have the full class at that time.

Quote:The five players comprising Gajdzik's top-rated class include Croatian Jurica Grubisic, Bosnia-Herzegovina native Adnan Sose, Titov, and Polish-born Pawel Poziomski and Szymon Tatarczyk. Grubisic was a first-team All-MAC honoree in his first season in the program, and Poziomski was tabbed the league's Newcomer of the Year.
Tatarczyk and Titov will see their eligibility begin in the 2009-10 season. Tatarczyk has been ranked as high as No. 63 by the International Tennis Federation, and Titov has climbed as high as No. 205.
