For those that went to the Legends event last night at Elma Roane and parked on Zach Currlin then you saw the raise bed veggie garden on your walk in.

Who is sponsoring that or is MissJ just everywhere........ Some good looking plants and a little bit of everything planted.

I parked in the garage...where exactly is it ? I think we're going back tomorrow and I would love to see it.

You will have garden envy. It's between the garage and the band, soccer, track practice field. If you are entering the garage it will be to the right in that little field.
They used cinder block for a raised border for the beds. Didn't see any aspargus though.
it is sponsored by the university. students can get veggies for free.
here is an article about it from the helmsman.
none of my classes are anywhere near that side of campus so it was the first time i'd seen the garden. i think it's really neat.

That article says there are 8 gardens spread out all over the campus.
well, I'm just about ready to give up the damn tomatoes. I took my soil to be tested this afternoon and it tested good, so it was determined that I must have a lack of bees to pollinate the blooms. I asked if maybe the dogs would have anything to do with that and was told no. So, I guess I will just have all these HUGE tomato plants full of branches, leaves and blooms but no tomatoes. I was told I could take a Q-tip and pretend to be a bee and actually pollinate myself...I think I'll pass and just go to the farmers market for my 'maters. 03-banghead 03-weeping

Want to have some fun with the golfers.... I have a friend that has like 20 bee hives... I could get him to transfer one of them to your place.
The reason he has the hives is due to the fact he wasn't getting anything pollenated also, got a garden like 1/2 half acre.
He does have some great honey.
I swear, it I didn't have the dogs I would be all over that !
I went by the raised gardens today and was very impressed !

I got my brush out today Missj and started doing my bee act. I'll try anything. I'm also spraying the blooms with bloom set from Green Light. I was told it was just like having a bee do it's thing. all I know is I want tomato's, and i ain't got a damn one, so I'm doing whatever I gotta do. I'll put on a bee costume if I have too.

If you get in a bee costume I want a picture. That would be a great PR photo for the Kindgdom/Queendom!!!!! 03-lmfao

P.S. Good luck with the tomatoes. I think your pollination is going to work. Just a gut feeling no inside knowledge or sources!

Verrryyy interesting! Maybe this is right. I an fortunate in that there is a hive of wild honey bees in a hollow tree about 100 yards from my garden. Ya' wanna borrow some bees, missj? Drive out to T-county and bring a jar and you can fill it up at our bee tree. You can have all you can catch.

Edit: if you come, I'll give you some zucchini, spinach, onions, and probably some peppers ( jalapeno, cayenne & sweet Bell).

I'm sooo jealous ! My brother, who lives in Marshall County in the country, has tomatoes even on his little bitty plants, but he has bees. If I didn't have dogs in the backyard I would definitely do the bee thing. I just don't want the dogs getting stung or the bees chasing them. If I slather bee honey close to the garden I wonder if that will attract them ?

If not, you might still get a visit from Winnie the Pooh. Pooh loves honey.

If all else fails try some honey bee attractant.

I wonder if they have any cheeseburger and pizza plants? Fresh off the vine would be sweet!
