It's like like they would be any worse than adding Syracuse.
I dont think UB fits the academic profile

What makes you say that? I think they're the closest school the MAC has to the Big Ten academically.
UB has really strong academics.

However, BT will not take a 'speculative' pick. They want a proven school which has won big in BCS competition. The MAC can afford to take a chance of a school trying to move up. BT won't.

Hell, BT fans weren't happy to add Penn. State hoops which wasn't considered BT caliber.

UB would need a ton of money to build a 60K stadium and a 12K arena.
The Big Ten wants Notre Dame and nobody else.

Stronger than Temple's, I can tell you that much.

It varies from program to program, but I'd go as far as to say UB has better academics than almost every MAC school with the exception of Miami.

That's garbage.
2009 US News Ranking:
Top Tier US Universities-
#66 Miami U
#116 Ohio U
#121 University of Buffalo
Actually, UB is an excellent research school and is even a member of the Association of American Universities. JHG is either ignorant or just trying to stir the pot.

JoePa doesn't. And the Big 10 rejected them years ago based on academics, primarily lack of graduate/research programs.

Point taken.

Regardless, I won't admit that Temple is even in UB's league. Temple will forever be stuck in the depth of tiers 3 and 4 with Kent State and Akron.03-lmfao

Yeah, I know.

Yeah, the Big Ten didn't want an institution ranked every year in the Top 25 of the US News Rankings. Sure.

The reality is that ND dumped the Big Ten at the altar, otherwise known as the Trustee's meeting.

UB is an excellent school, but it's not better than Temple. the AAU is a big scam regardless.

Not in UB's league? That's a joke. And if you think Temple is a tier 3 school, then you clearly know nothing about Temple. If you want to get specific, Temple is tied for the next ranked school with UCF in the US News Rankings, which are garbage anyway.

Please find me, somewhere (anywhere), any rankings for university-wide academics or research which places Temple above UB. I will be interested to see what you will find.

BTW, I am not a UB fan, but when somebody says something so utterly preposterous I just have to chime in.

Haha. I'm pretty confident you're just stirring the pot now.

This is kind of a stupid argument, but I'll finish it off.

Listen, Temple is a great university, don't get me wrong. But you're being narrow minded. I for one don't put any faith in the USNWR Rankings, but from what I can see Temple is a Teir 3 institution. That's nothing to be ashamed of. It's more than I can say for Akron.

Heres the link

Now, unless I'm missing something, this puts Temple far below UB(Tier 1) in terms of academics. But if I am mistaken, please, do enlighten me.

So arbitrary rankings are the end all be all of what dictates the quality of a university? I dont put much faith in the silly rankings. Certain stuff weighed in one direction hurts one university and helps another. There's a news story about how Clemson fudged a bunch of numbers and trashed other schools in order to move up in the US News rankings. IU is a great school too, with a fantastic business school, music school, journalism school, etc. Is it in an entire league ahead of Temple? I dont think so. Is UB? No way.

Btw, I was very close to attending IU.

Temple isn't 'far' below UB according to the silly rankings. UB is 121. Temple is tied with UCF at either 131 or 134.

Btw, I dont know what a 'teir' is...

'Teir' is a Faroese pronoun.
