when they meet?
I'm assuming since Carpelli made statements public, the BE and ND are on same page. But haven't heard much form ND on this yet.
If they are not, then whats the point in staying with them?

Exactly. If Notre Dame undercut the Big East in bowl negotiations, it may prompt some of the more reluctant football schools to consider splitting from the hoops schools.
I was against aligning with Notre Dame in the first place long ago. I always knew it was a bad deal for The BEast, and my opinion hasn't changed one iota after all these years...
If ND undercuts the BE then you just have to say goodbye. Why let them continue to reap in all other sports when they wouldn't assist the league in a situation like this. Of course maybe they will stick with the league in this matter--will have to see.
It is absolutely critical for Notre Dame to stand beside the Big East in this situation. Looking out for their own interests is one thing but the Big East needs a serious show of solidarity to get through this predicament and they better not even send out the slightest signals of being interested in undermining the league's current stance with the Gator Bowl.
the article only said that by the end of the month catlett would have met with reps from all 6 conferences EXCEPT the pac ten and notre dame. not once did it even hint at a possible meeting being discussed between the gator bowl and notre dame. even they would know better than that, double dealing with the gator bowl would pretty much terminate our relationship and maybe the conference, which would not be in their best interest.
