Increased schedules cause increased confusion.

How about a 10-game season w/ a 4 game playoff (and supplementary bowl games)?

Nahh, too simple.
Unbelievable. Its a conference game too.

Understood. I'm just not sure the NCAA has guided its members to a good situation.
The mistake was allowing the FBS schools to go to 12 game schedules but keeping the FCS at 11 with playoffs. Note that the FCS playoffs are expanding over the next few years with conferences like the Northeast and Big South getting automatic bids that they do not receive today.

It would never happen, but I wonder if these problems could be avoided if the NCAA just simply threw out the money situation and took over the scheduling for these schools, like the NFL. It could probably save a lot of headaches and set up a lot of interesting games.
This situation is completely embarrassing and should never be allowed to happen. What the MEAC should have done is stepped in and ordered, under threat of severe penalties, Delaware State and North Carolina A&T to find some other date for their game. I also understand that this problem could have been avoided with some help from Norfolk State but they adamantly refused to move their game saying that Delaware State was not offering them enough money even though it was a significant amount.

The bottom line is that no conference game should ever be allowed to be forfeited in this manner and the MEAC leadership should be stepping in and pimpslapping all of the involved schools into doing the right thing for the league. Instead, the schools are only thinking about themselves, and apparently do not care about the public relations damage they are causing both themselves and the MEAC. A strong commissioner with significant professional experience in other organizations is needed over there.
