however with econmey & people cancelling cable.
ND viewership might go up

Plus...ND's AD is making future schedules much easier...as he is trying to limit ND to just 4 true "road games" per year.

ND is setting up almost all future schedules with 7 home games, 1 off-site HOME game in cities with LARGE Catholic populations vs not-so-great teams (like this year's game in San Antonio vs Washington St who was just 2-11 last year), plus Army in Chicago in 2010), then all that is left is 4 road games...and sometimes that means not-so-tough road games at Stanford, at Navy (even though Navy won at ND last year), etc...

ND will probably now be bowl eligible just based off their easy schedule...which will lead to better records, probably more viewership, which means more $$$$.

Typical JoePa, just yammering away.

And wouldn't people do well to listen to him? He's one of the brighter football minds out there. He knows what he's talking about. Just because they aren't listening doesn't mean he's not saying the right things.

I guess that's kind of the point, though - most people aren't listening. JoePa has often gone against the grain on such subjects, but there never seems to be any weight behind it. I mean, if he were so gung-ho about the Big Tenleven expanding, he's be in the president's office making his case instead of just shooting off the cuff.

There are a lot of pretty bright people out there saying a lot of very smart things. But they are being ignored. I see it in my company and my industry on a daily basis.
I've never gotten the impression he's much of a politician. He may have his opinions, but he might think it's someone else's job to make it happen. Call it a character flaw if you must.

Do you mean that the Big 10 actually takes the time to give an excuse before they dismiss suggestions of adding a MAC school? For that matter, who the hell are these people that are making these suggestions,

If any MAC school had a chance to hop up it would probably be one of the Ohio universities to increase the presence in Oh and PA.
If they only allow conference champs into the BCS bowls, then Notre Dame, Army, Navy likely decide to join a conference so they would be able to get an automatic bowl. As Independents they are pretty much at-large teams. Should a playoff be setup where each conference champion gets an automatic spot, then Notre Dame, Navy and Army might look at Big Ten, Big East or MAC as options. My guess to Notre Dame to the Big Ten, Navy to the Big East and Army to the MAC. Notre Dame, Army, Navy, Air Force could still play each other non-conference. Notre Dame probably plays USC as its 4th game.

B-10 would be looking to increase revenue of B-10 network.
between the population of NY state, NYC metro area & Championship game.
Syracuse easily brings the most money to the table

Syracuse hasn't been much of a draw for football, hoops absolutely but they don't bring much of the NY market. If Buffalo does well the next 2 years they've have a larger fanbase in NY state than Syracuse for football.
your correct, Buffalo has been improving by leaps & bounds.
And if Syc gets invited to B-10, Buffalo will proablly get invited to the BE.

Look what Syc is doing, majority of thier OOC games are vs B-10.
Thier making inroads on marketing the NYC area.
playing games vs ND in meadowlands.
thier application is on Delany desk
Syracuse has almost 0% chance of getting into the Big 10. Big 10 doesn't need a 12th team and has no interest in a conference title game.
