Don't you guys have that logo trademarked or anything?

The school district has the logo all over its website: Linky

I, for one, support the premise that this sort of thing fosters good PR for the school in question.

Of course, I have my built-in biases.

:)
Somehow I doubt a bunch of kids in Tampa are going to go to WMU because they have the same logo. They've probably never even heard of WMU.
Well, I don't think a bunch of kids from Philly are going to go to BG, either. But the manager sure does love the uniforms!
They probably think they're Flyers jerseys.

So what's the deal...anyone can just use a university's athletic logo if they want to? Not that anyone would want to steal the old Syracuse logo, but they supposedly paid Nike $2 million to produce it. I can't imagine they'd be happy if someone else used it.

Oh absolutely not. There was a case a few weeks back where a HS has to change its logo b/c it matches a University (Missouri?) Sorry I can't find the link.

Wapakoneta HS in OH had to change their helmets b/c they were using the UWisconsin "W".

I don't know if many universities chase after little league teams. I for one agree w/ 1987 that it fosters good will in the future.
It looks a LITTLE bit different the WMU's logo

IANAL, but I don't think changing one color from gold to yellow is enough. Even the frickin lines on the neck are identical.

This ain't my fight. If any of you WMUers out there aren't happy about this, here's where you need to go: Linky
Very common for high school teams to have logos that pretty much copy college logos. My high school was the yellow jackets.

In Ohio last year, I believe the New Bremen Cardinals got a cease and desist from Ball St., and had to change their mascot/logo.
I think WMU asked a school in Texas to stop using the logo a few years back (no lawyer, just a request). They had changed it to red and black. It turned into a PR nightmare for Western, so I don't see them going after another school.

Theres about 30 floridians on the WMU football roster.
Colleges do it as well look at Michigan and Delaware...
^ And they took it from Princeton way back when.
Zibby - Why do you care so much????

Alum,
I'm curious how you've handled the referrals for child cruelty?

Actually they didn't. Fritz Crisler took it with him from Princeton when he became the first head coach at Michigan. After that Princeton stop using the helmet design.

Thats a cool idea Alum. Did you just give the logo to your jersey design shop?? The Black looks alot better than the Brown.
