You had better gotten it in my April 15.

Only IRS Directors like Geithner are allowed to avoid filing their tax returns.
Dennis Miller said it best. "I don't mind giving my money to the helpless, it's giving it to the clueless I have a problem with." Sent them a check for $2,200 last night.
My $2,305 went out in the mail last week, and has already been cashed and spent. It was indeed a privilege to pay those taxes! I am one patriotic SOB. 02-13-banana
$11,340 and barely dodged the quarterly estimate penalty. Cut it too close.
I actually got BACK almost $ 8000.00 from State and Federal this year.

I usually end up paying. Got clobbered on capital gains in 2008 so they owe me some of MY money back.

Keep on giving until it hurts, folks. We have more overseas wars to be fought and funding for ACORN and other Obama favorite programs!
I'm W2 right now, it'll be a different issue.

Wish I had capital gains, my day trading went south in September, I got caught. Has some losses to carry forward. At least I had my retirement stuff in Bond Funds when the chit hit the fan, I for one was listening to Peter Schiffer in May.
I got $79.00 back.

That's perfect.
My response

Dear Czar,

I am sorry to inform you that I will not be able to pay taxes owed April
15,but all is not lost.

I have paid the following taxes: accounts receivable tax, building
permit tax, CDL tax, cigarette tax, corporate income tax, dog license
tax, federal income tax, unemployment tax, gasoline tax, hunting license
tax, fishing license tax, waterfowl stamp tax, inheritance tax,
inventory tax, liquor tax, luxury tax, Medicare tax, city, school and
county property tax (up 33 percent last 4 years), real estate tax,
social security tax, road usage tax, toll road tax, state and city sales
tax, recreational vehicle tax, state franchise tax, state unemployment
tax, telephone federal excise tax, telephone federal state and local
surcharge tax, telephone minimum usage surcharge tax, telephone state
and local tax, utility tax, vehicle license registration tax, capitol
gains tax, lease severance tax, oil and gas assessment tax, Colorado
property tax, Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma and New Mexico sales
tax, and many more that I cant recall but I have run out of space and money.

When you do not receive my check April 15, just know that it is an
honest mistake. Please treat me the same way you treated Congressmen
Charles Rangel, Barney Frank, Senator Chris Dodd and ex-Senator Tom
Daschle and, of course, your boss Timothy Geithner. No penalties and no
interest.

P.S. I will make at least a partial payment as soon as I get my stimulus
check.
^ Great letter. The point is not lost, we collectively rail at the Federal Government, but it appears that we as a voting public give our city, county, and state governments a free pass to tax us into the ground. Take a look at your cell bill next time that you doubt me, or my registration fee that has gone up as my car has aged each year (I had to do a double take when I was doing my taxes, I assumed the lower one was for this year, it wasn't).

You are right. My property taxes are more than 10K. As the Mass congressman once said "politics are local", as is corruption. Down here gas taxes, restaraunt, hotels are extraordinariry high. We get taxed on insurance (which is quite high here for property). You are on target w/local taxes though. Here if you don't own but rent you get a free pass but if you own you are paying for those that don't

I don't even look at my cell phone/local telephone taxes. Its about 3 pages of taxes.
Got sort of lucky this year with my feds. Instead of owing $240, I only had to pay $20 since I didn't get all of my stim check back and was able to claim it. However, I owe the State of Indiana $68. $88 down the drain.
Conrock,

My of my cell phone taxes go to the city of Chicago. They average to about $7-$8 per bill.
