I could see UK being in the same boat as UM if Cal decided to leave. When you recruit all of these 1 and done players this is what happens, every year you have a different team and the long term stability is gone. Hopefully at UK some of these big recruits decide to stick around a little longer. This will help in case Cal makes a quick exit we will still have a team of sophs and juniors and seniors in line to keep ball rolling. Cal will not let them stay. He tore up Dajuan Wagners scholarship right in front of him. Playing 1 year and jumping to the NBA is his greatest recruiting tool. And yes you will be in the same boat when he leaves. Just enjoy the time you have with him, because you will see success like you haven't seen in a long time.

I doubt they will stick around any longer. That is Calapari's selling point. Players go and play for him cause he runs an offense that will showcase their talent. If you are a top 10 pick you go.

Thanks for coming on here and not being a jack@$$. Fact of the matter is, however, that Cal will openly tell you and your fans that if a player can go in the first round... not even the lottery, then he pushes them to go pro. The people that bring these great recruits to Cal (WWW) have no desire for elite players to stay in school. Nobody gets paid when they stick around... the wheel moves when kids go early. Get used to one and dones, Cal has begun to rely more heavily on them lately. You guys got a great coach and amazing recruiter, BUT take it from those who danced with the devil for 9 years... at some point you will get burned in some fashion. There's another problem with one and dones that didn't have much of an impact in the CUSA, but will in the SEC. The talent and coaching level permits our freshmen to grow as the season progresses in the CUSA, but won't in the SEC. Kentucky will have league losses which will in turn hurt the seeding, unless KY can somehow overwhelm the opposition, which I don't think will happen, #1 and #2 seeds are going to be difficult. This will lead to stronger comp. in the tourney and an earlier ouster. It is harder to recruit any higher than #1 which is what was taken from here. KY can do as well, but not better. Coach Cal is a good recruiter (along with WWW), but not much of a bench coach. That was proven in the last two NCAA tournaments.

Feel safe. Yes what you are saying is true. There is simply no-where for him to go. He is at the college plateau now so no reason for him to leave ever.
My guess is that KY can afford probably 4 losses more than UM could and still maintain at least a #2 seed. So, while Cal will lose more in the SEC than CUSA, he probably can still get high seeds in the tournament even with the additional losses. This assumes he plays as strong of a non-conference schedule as UM has been so that the RPI stays high. #2 seeds last year besides UM had 6, 7, and 6 losses going into the tournament.
I do agree that the 1 or 2 seeds is critical to getting to the FF.
Also agree that there is really no where for Cal to go from KY, so I think they are safe.

Well if he stumbles around and ends up in the NIT like he commonly did when he first arrived at Memphis...I'm sure a reason for him to leave will come rather quickly...
Don't worry..he will win there. Just do NOT invest in anything he says. He will say what you want to hear, true or not. ie..Memphis is where I want to coach..I'm not going anywhere. 2 days later..KY press conf. Until he left, I did not realize how this WWW influenced our program..be afraid..be very afraid.

Ok..here's a Calism for you..if he wants to do what's best for me, he will stay. If he wants to do what's best for him and his family, he'll enter the draft. Mark my words ..you will hear that.
Cal started at Kansas. I am sure he would return if the job opened in 5-7 years, and they asked. Remember he has said that you have to move on after 7-10 years cause you run out of stories to tell. That's about the only place I can see him leaving Kentucky for. He will probably be there for a while.

Word around here is he has two goals - win a national championship and go 40-0. If he goes 40-0, he gets both. Then, he wants to retire, write books and be a professional speaker. I doubt he leaves for another program. He may retire earlier than you would hope. He will probably want to leave you guys in good shape when that happens so you will buy his books.

If you don't get the one and done players there, you will not go 40-0. It's his calling card. It's what he does. I understand the UK franchise. You will have to understand the Cal franchise. Pay very close attention. Many of our fans, just enjoyed the winning. Of course winning is way more fun than losing.
