One thing I think will REALLY energize the fan base is the return of a Rocket legend as a guest coach for the Spring Game.
I'm not a huge football fan and I don't know much about how Amstutz ran things but we sure didn't HEAR about this kind of stuff going on (outreach to former players, mock games against MAC opponents, competition in every aspect). I'm almost as excited for football as I am for track.
Fine article. I like this from Coach Beckman in regard to the limited contact in practices run under the last coaching staff:
“Last time I was involved in coaching football, I think football is pretty much a contact sport. So that’s what we’re gonna do. We’re gonna be tough, we’re gonna try to out-work people, and we’re gonna try to out-physical people."
No pussyfooting around. You gotta let the players know what is expected of them in the trenches.
Excellent article! I stopped by on Monday and just peeked in for a few minutes and was impressed with what I saw taking place. I'm liking just about everything that's going on with football.

My dad, who predates McGuire (he's 90), I think, always said that at HS games in the sixtie. Except he said dancing is a contact sport, football is a collision sport". I don't think he made it up either.
