Why to watch: With as much returning experience as anyone in the country, UAB has its sights set on a big season and a sleeper run at the Conference USA title. Baylor is trying to get is feet wet in year two of the Guy Morriss era looking for a nice road win to set the tone for the rest of the season. Baylor might be Baylor, but it would still be a nice feather in Conference USA's cap to get a win over a Big XII team.
Why Baylor might win: Morriss is a fantastic coach and he'll get the most he can out of the talent he has to work with. Baylor lost to UAB 24-19 last year and now he has had a year to work with this crew. UAB looks to be good, but it isn't so good that it can come out and play a sloppy game and come away with the win.
Why UAB might win: Rule number one in picking early season games: always, always, always go with experience. Baylor is a very young team needing a few games to figure out where all the pieces are going to fit. UAB is a veteran club with a good defense able to shut down anything Baylor will try and do. The Bear defense isn't special enough to stop the UAB passing game.
Who to watch: JUCO transfer Dane King has taken over the Baylor starting quarterback job for now and he'll need to become a top passer right away for the Bears to keep this close. The Bear secondary will have a nightmare of a time with the UAB receiving corps, but at least there's one great defensive back in Maurice Lane to rely on; he should be all over the field and needs to be in on at least ten tackles. Expect this to be the first huge game in a breakout season for UAB QB Darrell Hackney. Hurt off and on over his first two years, he should become a superstar with a deep, fast and talented group of receivers to work with.
What will happen: Baylor won't be a pushover right away giving the Blazers a hard time for a half. And then the UAB defense will take over stopping the Bear offense dead in its tracks while Hackney comes up with a magnificent performance. It'll be a major disappointment if he doesn't throw for 300 yards and at least two scores.
CFN Prediction: UAB 31 ... Baylor 16 ... Line: UAB -13.5

I love what he says about our defense, WR's, and Hackney. good stuff
That's a great preview and I think it's very accurate. Pretty similar to the score I'm predicting. I would love to blow out Baylor and put all their fans in their place.
