According to the AP. Good for James. Hopefully this means we will see hiom in next year's dunk competition.

HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets have signed guard James White to a multiyear contract.

The 6-foot-7 White originally signed a 10-day contract with the Rockets on March 3, then signed a second 10-day contract on March 13. He signed his new deal Tuesday.

White had been playing in the NBA's developmental league for the Anaheim Arsenal, where he averaged 25.9 points, five rebounds and 2.5 assists in 34 games.

He's played one game for Houston, scoring five points with an assist and a steal in the Rockets' 107-88 win over Minnesota on Friday.
awesome news. james said in an interview that the only thing holding him back before was that he wasn't scoring enough. he also said that if he ever gets a chance to compete in the nba slam dunk contest that he has two or three dunks nobody has ever seen before ... 04-jawdrop
Good for flight. I'm not sure how much security this gives him but I am looking forward to seeing more highlights from him.
Great news, I'm happy for him. Hopefully he has an extended NBA career.

If James White ever gets to compete in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, they will have to permanently retire the event from that point forward, simply because there isn't anyone on the planet that could ever top what he would throw down. All future contests and contestants would appear to be JV by comparison.

This is the exact reason why James White has not played in more NBA games. He spent too much time practicing his dunks, instead of working on his ball handling, his jump shot and rebounding.
I'm a Houston Rockets fan so I'm excited about having him with the Rocks.

Wrong. James White has done a hell of a job improving ALL of the facets of his game. James White played well in Indiana and San Antonio, practice wise, but has improved by leaps and bounds as he has learned. He wasn't just practicing his dunks. You don't score 26 ppg just learning how to dunk.
Congrats to Flight! I hope he can stick with them and stay in the league longer this time around.
I always liked White but he and Muhammed really let their team mates and me as a fan down by not taking care of business at the end of their senior year causing them to miss the NIT game. I can't quite get past that and don't care much if White is successful or not.

Yeah, that was bad. UC probably would have been playing at MSG and won the NIT that year. Yeah, it was a disappointment not making the big dance, but Jihad and James did screw us....

Played well in Indiana and San Antonio ????? But yet not well enough to stay on either one of those teams.
I like White, but he always struck me as a player who, basically because he's a ridiculous athlete, thought he was better than he actually was. Maybe he's changed that attitude and it's paying off, I don't know. Hope he makes it.

Willie, I wasn't going to open that can of worms, but feel free. I don't disagree with any of it.

It is good to see James finally making the most of his talents. But, I'd say that about anyone else, because, in general, I don't like to see talented athletes blow it.

Aside from that, I'm not rooting for (or against) James anymore.
Looking back, the season was kind of a rollercoaster ride to begin with. I'm willing to bet that neither one thought they'd still be playing at the end of March, and they stopped going to class. I agree it was not very responsible, but understandable. It was their last year and neither intended to finish their degrees at the time.

Sitting throught that South Carolina game watching Hicks, Downey and Chad Moore with his bad back play like freaking men clawing for a full 40 minutes each with a supporting cast of Miller, Cedric, Ron Allen, and Barwin, I doubt I would have pissed on White and Jihad if they were on fire.
