pay your way in tournaments, but with 23 D1 wins and a division championship (actually a co championship), we should have gotten into one of the two legitimate ones. I'm wondering if John Brady was our coach, and had the same record we had, would we have been selected?
Or even Wimp Sanderson. I have a feeling there is somewhat of a good old boy network working here, and if you win 23 games and have a name coach, they find a way to get you in the tournament. Got to be something going on here.03-banghead

I'd been studying the NIT situation all weekend (you would think I'd have something better to do), and we didn't have the resume to get in there. I don't have a qualm with one team they picked over us. We only had one quality win, no quality road wins, 1-4 against the Top 100, etc. That was not a screw job, it was just a decision made on the facts available to the committee. We would have fit well in the other tourney's and been more than competitive. At this point, I don't have a good answer for why we aren't in one of those.
We were borderline at best. Still hard for the seniors.

I agree about no participating in these nothing tournaments. They mean nothing and aren't worth ponying up a cent to play in. As for the NIT, it's too bad we didn't take care of business at home against Rice, Wright State and Troy. It's too bad we stunk it up against South Bama in Hot Springs. Tack 4 more wins on to our total, and we might even have an argument that we belonged in the Big Dance.

True, if we tacked the four wins onto our 23, that would have been great, but don't forget we won a bunch of close games, and several of them could have gone the other way.
