Davis comments on his schedule this year and his thoughts on NEXT year...hmmmmmm

Quote:No. Maybe somebody just needs to beat Memphis.

Ding, ding, ding.
Stop crying coach, and beat somebody. 01-wingedeagle
Playing cup cakes isn't going to help. Beating Boston College and Butler would have made the difference.
Not blowing double digit leads and falling apart in the final minutes is what he needs to focus on.
Our non-conference schedule next year had better be 'cupcake city' or we might finish below .500.
Unless proven wrong, I honestly believe next year will be the worst year ever for UAB basketball. I hope I'm wrong.
I'm not going to speculate, but If Davis sticks around and we have a losing season next year, which seems to be a good possibility at this point, then that will be the third losing season in UAB's history. M. Bartow had one (in a legit conference) and Davis will have had two. That would be absolute failure.

Once again Coach Davis didn't learn to shut up .
UAB cannot play cupcakes and have a chance to make it to the tournament
This year schedule was perfect to make it to the dance but you need to win some of those games .A schedule full of cup cakes won't do it even if we win every games .
You want some respect coach from the talking head of ESPN
Just win the NIT and they will talk about us COACH .....because the tournament is on ESPN .
Just maintain a stable bench and keep the kids in the classroom hitting the books. However, we need some big guys really bad. Tulsa was killing us inside. We need some 7 footers also. Wished Z would have stayed but I don't think he was the answer also.

Yep. Z was not the answer, but we can't compete with Tulsa or Memphis when we don't have at least a 6'9'' or 6'10" player.
If we finish next season with the same bunch of guys we start it with, it'll be the first time on Davis' watch.

Just sayin'.
Agree. We do need a big guy.
Also next year, CMD has his players only. It's all on his shoulders.
NO CRAWFORD isnot his player

Ooops, my bad Frenchy.
I'm kind of looking forward to see what happens next year. I'm ready for this year to continue though. 600th post.

That and making sure you have enough players on the bench that you don't wilt in the closing minutes of a game.

I agree that we need some legit post players, but one was not needed against Tulsa. Jordan has talent, but is really raw. The others are nothing more than stiffs. Quickness would have destroyed that team, but we did not have that either. We simply do not create turnovers on defense (outside of Delaney). If we aren't going to have decent big guys, we at least need some athletes.
We have quickness, just not enough of it. We have NO depth and our players are dead legged. Maybe if we had some players to sub in for quality minutes our guys would have the energy to sustain that level of intensity instead of short bursts.
We also had several games where it seemed like there was a different game plan for different players.
Agreed, StLB.

Frankly, I think that was at least a contributing factor to the freakishly long scoreless runs we always seem to fall into.
