It looks like the Boise State game may be changed to a friday night game against Colorado.

So how does Miami get off with doing this? Why did they cancel the game with Colarado? There is no way in hell Toledo should be giving up a game - unless it is an away game against Purdue to accomodate this "snafu"
I don't know, but I was looking forward to the Boise game.
The MAC screwed with Boise's schedule before and I can't believe Toledo would let that happen again. I don't want MOB to tell the MAC no; I want him to tell them HELL NO!!! It's not that I don't want a home game with Colorado or a television game, I just don't like seeing Boise getting screwed by the MAC yet again. If Miami wants to give up the game then let them take a forfeit.

How does a team just cancel a game? Don't they have to buy it out in order to honor the contract?

What I don't understand is how Miami can cancel a game and somehow our schedule gets changed. That makes zero sense.
Welcome to the MAC. Every year there is a bunch of bush league activity with schedules in the MAC. Last year it was a few teams scheduling 5 OOC games. This would be the first time though that the MAC would mess up our OOC schedule. If there is any Rocket fan that still wanted Toledo in the MAC before this and if this does indeed happen, then this should be enough to change your minds.

That said, it might not happen. I'm hearing Akron could be Colorado's opponent too instead of Toledo.
What - Miami couldn't get more than 5,000 to commit to going to the game??

I've always despised Miami for their elitest attitude. My first several years working after college put me in contact with those grads and they were seriously lacking both common sense and the ability to cope outside their element. I'll never forget a conversation overheard between 2 female grads from Miami when one asked the other what she was looking for in a guy - "the 3 C's - Cute, Catholic and Country Club" I guess the 4th C thrown in their for respectability was "Cute" She didn't stand a chance in that department. But it's all relative when it comes to being "Redhawk Cute"

Given the fact that that would make the most sense, since Akron has an open date that week, and given the fact that Akron would likely bend over backwards for the chance to host a relatively elite Big 12 team in its brand new stadium, and given the fact that Akron is actually a MAC team that has earned a bit of respectability over the last few years, it only makes sense that Akron would NOT GET THE GAME.
We are the MAC.

Can't this conference exercise some level of authority and demand that Miami honor its contract with Colorado?
The only possible good thing that could come out of this is that if the game were held on Friday, we wouldnt be competing for fans vs OSU when they play USC that following Saturday. Although, the high school games in the area have carved into our fan base on Fridays.

I, too, was really looking for a chance to host quite possibly a top-10 team for our opener.

If this happens and I were Boise, I'd avoid scheduling home and homes with this conference for any time in the near future.
Why not make a weekend of it? Colorado on Friday and Boise on Saturday. After the Colorado game the Rocket fanatics can have a sleep over in Lot 10 Friday night. Then on Saturday we have bands play all day and take on the smurfs at 7:00.

Works for me...
WTF?

I want to play Boise St not Colorado. This is absolute BS. Miami need to get themselves straight and leave us out of this mess.
If we play COlorado on Friday I would be really mad because I dont want to have miss games because I play on Friday nights next year
From the Raplhie (CU mascot) Report posted yesterday:
Quote:According to ESPN.com:

Ole Miss continues to poke around in its attempt to find a 12th opponent for the 2009 season.

This week, Ole Miss officials contacted Colorado about the possibility of playing on Sept. 12 after reports surfaced that Miami (Ohio) had backed out of its game with Colorado.

But at this point, it appears that Colorado is leaning toward playing Toledo on that weekend. The game would actually be played on Friday night.

Ole Miss is trying to keep from having two FCS opponents on its schedule. The Rebels already have a game with Southeastern Louisiana scheduled and were in discussions with Gardner-Webb.

Only one win against an FCS foe counts toward the six wins the NCAA requires for a school to be bowl eligible.
Hey MOB,

Grows some Ballz and say "NO to Colorado!!!!!!"

People who give UT money
Whenever a school messes up a the schedule like this, they should be "fined" and have to give some money to the schools whose schedule it messes up.
One positive about having to play Colorado is that it would give UT three wins against BCS teams this coming season. 04-cheers
Maybe I'm missing something. Why does the fact that Miami backs out of a game with Colorado have anything to do with us? We have a game scheduled with Boise State, so we play Boise State.

We made arrangements to leave our vacation in Myrtle Beach early in order to be home for the Boise State game on Saturday.

We made a deal and we should honor it.

If it's the same as what has happened to some MAC schools in the past (like BG), MOB really won't have a say. The MAC and ESPN will force our hand if they have to. We need to hope someone else comes into play for this game.
