Fox6 had video of the basketball team going out to Memphis schools today talking to kids and getting some positive PR.

Just thought I would post this because of all the negative crap that is being said right now. We have great guys who are still playing basketball and WILL bring back the CUSA Championship.

I said WILL.

GO BLAZERS!!!
What you didn't see is the second half of the story that is being told on Fox 13 Memphis that the UAB players were beating up Kindergartners after school.

Oh yeah. I've been talking to a few of the fellow saxes all day and we listened to the USM/UCF game and talked about how all the possible match ups. Some of us represented down in New Orleans last weekend with the women also.

We have been waiting for this one since Memphis at the Bart. That lose (along with the UTEP one) hit some of us kinda hard. We want revenge.

I know it may seem strange to get hyped up just to travel and watches games but there's some of us that really take a lot of pride in representing UAB in a positive fashion. And it helps getting to travel... even if it's been the same place for the past 5 years.

In other words... we can't wait for 7am to get here and get this show on the road. Then we'll be all to excited for the pep rally in the hotel... and then THE GAME. Part 3 of the Eagle roasting begins!!! GO BLAZERS!!!
Good! Let's go Blazers! Would be great to see band and cheerleaders there! The call and response between the band and the crowd is a hit at tournament games among others in the arena.

Jess, can you and the guys gang up and beat the crap out of that goober in front of the tubas (on the far right end when looking at the band) that is constantly reading a book when the band's not playing (i.e., while the game is actually going on). When the director has gotten on to him, he puts down his book and rolls his eyes like he's too cool to be at a UAB basketball game. Makes me wanna walk over and punch him in the face.

I had no clue that someone was behaving in such a manor. You have my word that we will not allow that of crap to happen anymore, and if it does you can come over and get our attention on him. It may not be an issue this weekend though because we are only allowed to take 29 playing members on these trips and for some reason this year both trips turned out very nice in regards of keeping people that don't really care much for the actually reason we are there off the trips.

Sadly... you can't force people to care. I hate it, the saxes hates, Dr. Fambrough (I'm sure) hates it. But some people just join the Blazers Band for the big games and the travel. It has gotten a whole lot better since I've been a part of the band, but we still have a ways to go.

It has gotten better. A couple or three years ago, it was the band director reading a book during the game.
I have been extremely happy with the pep band this season under Dr. Fambrough. He does good work as far as the sound and tone of the band, and he's good about trying to get the fans pumped up too.

Hats off to the UAB pep band and Dr. Fambrough!!!

(Note - just to share a laugh. As I typed the above sentence I accidentally mistyped it as "Hats off to the AUB pep" and went Yikes! and started laughing. It doesn't pay for me to type too fast...)
What happened to Sue Samuels?
DID sue samuels was the pep director when UAB lost to tulane in new orlean WITH the cajun blazer incident.
If it is her , I am glad that she is gone
"Cajun Blazer incident"? Please explain.
So far as I know Ms. Samuels is still at UAB. She ran the marching band last football season, and I saw her at the Memphis basketball game. I don't know the dynamics behind the change but Dr. Fambrough has been out in front of the pep band at home this basketball season. I'm not particularly well band educated but he seems to me to have done very well at it.

I heard they lined up every kid that claimed to be a Memphis fan and drilled them with urine-filled water balloons!

Then they went around beating up any teachers that went to Memphis. Our animals are on the loose, plundering, pillaging, and reaking havoc on the town of Memphis! :noisycricket: MEMPHIS

Cajun Blazer came close to throwing her off the top of Tad Gromley stadium because she had the band playing while we were under center trying to convert a 3rd and 1 or something like that.

He asked her to stop the band from playing when our team needed to be able to hear(not very nicely.) She responded (not very nicely.) They got in each others face and started yelling (not very nicely.)

On a side note. Frenchy, blazerjay, blazerdawg(i think) and myself had to leave that game early to catch our flight back to Birmingham. Frenchy was listening to the last few minutes on a hand held radio at the airport and relaying it to us. Seeing the look on Frenchy's face when we muffed that punt near the end of the game was one of my low points as a blazer fan. I had no idea what had happened, just that A) it was something really bad, and B) we had just lost to Tulane.
