Bill Koch has talked to UC coach Mick Cronin, who said if the Bearcats do not receive an NIT bid, they will not play in any other post-season tournament.

"(Athletic director) Mike Thomas and I have discussed it and we're both in total agreement about what's best for us," Cronin said.

Cronin also responded to a question about whether sophomore forward Alvin Mitchell, who did not play on Tuesday in the loss to DePaul, was sick or suspended.

"I don't want to comment on that right now, but that's not going to be the end of it," Cronin said

Antything less than the NIT would serve no purpose and only cost UC money.
I disagree. These guys need to develop some mental toughness, maybe a CBI championship would give them some confidence going into next season, as of right now they have none.

And reading between the lines it looks like Mitchell will be the first to go to make room for the newcomers.
I agree with Mick. The CBI is going to do nothing to this fragile team. This program just needs to take a deep breath and regroup.

I think Mick just wants this season to be over and get some of these guys (ie Mitchell) away from the team.

Did we quit when the German's bombed Pearl Harbor?!
Wonder what Mitchell did, or didn't do....
I am not sure why UC would decline an CBI invite this year but would accept one with a losing record last year. What difference does it make if you are playing in the CBI or NIT? Both tournaments are like December bowl games in football, a reward for a decent season but not the real deal.

Does anyone actually think UC makes the NIT now? If Georgetown makes the NIT and UC does not that would be awful. Look at the bracketproject and bracketboard sites and check out there NIT field UC seems to sitting right on the bubble.

When I evaluate the teams I still have UC ahead of Georgetown, Temple, Tulsa, UAB, Nebraska, Baylor, George Mason, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Miss State, Vandy, and maybe Illinois State.
It's going to be a stressful couple of hours after the Selection Show Sunday night. As of right now, NITology has us IN as a 7 seed.

We lost money playing in the CBI last year. That is why we would turn it down.
So...we still might be an NIT caliber team? Hooray!

But seriously an NIT invite would be ok if the Cats can salvage anything at all. I just hope to see more effort...

I won't be stressed at all.
UC might be in now. But a few more one seeds in mid majors are going to lose eating up three to five more bids or maybe more. I was hoping someone would compare UC to the other teams and give a reasoned arguement on why Cincinnati will or will not get a bid.

Neither will I. My comments were sarcastic.

Lol, I'm not sure anyone has the motivation to do that for the NIT.

Thank God.

We haven't had mental toughness all year....playing SWNE NoWhere State in the CBI isn't going to further this cause....
