None of us know for certain what all of the issues are, but I think it is very clear that we are now reduced to the fans of so many other teams in the country who either talk about why things might get better next season for some myriad of reasons or wish that the coach would be fired ASAP. That fact in and of itself really blows.

As for me, I have a sinking suspicion that grew after the Marquette debacle, died off some during the uptick and is now quite apparent to me that Coach Cronin may know his basketball, but has a problem with motivating consistent effort from his players. Sadly for him I think that is likely why he won't be here beyond next season or the one after.

But hey, we can hope right 03-confused
Oh, and I forgot one piece of evidence that I think helps to validate my suspicion. Cronin kicked them out of their regular locker room prior to the WVU game, and while a very ugly game I don't think many would question their effort in that game. So he immediately puts them right back in the locker room, with Vaughn supposedly not wanting them to go back because he thought it made them play harder. So he better figure out a method that he can use on a regular basis to consistently get their attention and effort.

He simply is not an imposing or inspiring figure. He is a tactician without fire. I think he cares about winning.

I think he lacks the tools to win.

It's the Peter Principle on Hardwood.

This is why you don't dump a proven winner for a black box....statistics tell you that the odds of picking 2 consistently winning coaches in a row is vanishingly small...unless you have LOTS AND LOTS of money to hire someone with a proven pedigree.
Lets just put him on mothballs every year and break him out for the West Virginia game. 03-wink

Wonder why he coached so well and so hard for that particular game?

Was it something to cling to in order to save his job?

I can beat my predecessor head to head! (but I can't beat the worst teams in the league)

I guess it's something to grasp on to...
Bob keeps his string going of getting beat by bad coaches with cruddy rosters, maybe he'll need to cling to something to keep his job.02-13-banana

Maybe a sweet 16 birth...and two NCAA tourney appearances in two years on the job. I think Bob is safe.

Could not agree more. There is no guarantee that UC will return to what they used to be. Even North Carolina struggled until they hired Roy Williams, post Dean Smith. It is really something that UC fans are rooting to be a bubble team when there were complaints that Huggs could not make the sweet 16 every year. Huggs and UC had some bad luck some of those years.

Damn Billiken. Deprived me of the joy of watching UC win a National Championship.

I mentioned that in a post last week.

He brings the fire against his former bosses. He was more p!ssed after the louisville loss then the others.

If you ever listen to mick talk, he is not one of those coaches that claim they never read a paper, blog, or any other media. He knows whats going on.
