Because you dumbazz there are millions of people trying to leave. Would you rather them let it become a parking lot on 65 when the storm hits. It took some people close to 12 hours to get from Destin to Birmingham yesterday. GET A CLUE.

Sorry to spoil your fun guys, but Sax does have a point. I have an Uncle 20 miles North of Gulf Shores that I wish I could get there in time to help him board up his house. He is 76. Just found out this a.m. that he had decided to ride it out.

Phil you cant take an alt route??????
I would not be able to get there in time and be able to leave Alternate routes of I-59 or US 43 would probably get me there. He will be fine. He still does construction and home repair, so I know he can get it done. My Aunt's family is nearby is the reason they are staying.

And if you really need to get down there I-65 South is now re-open although DOT is highly recommeding you don't go down the Mobile area.
Why didn't you leave earlier. This storm has been projected to hit in and around the Mobile area for like 4 days now?
Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone that is riding the storm out in the Gulf Coast Area.
