That nice looking young coach in the nice white shirt and tie that UAB passed over because they wanted to make a "big splash" with a "big name" last time we were looking for a new coach?????

He just punched his ticket for the second time in three years to the NCAA tournament.
I was about to make the same post.

...but but but, we beat VCU in the NIT. NIT. Get used to it.
And most of the fans would be upset because he wouldnt put to bed rumors that he was interested in the Alabama job. I can see it now...

"Rumor is he wants to get back in the SEC"
"Either he wants to be here or he doesn't"
"We have SuitCase Mike Jr on our hands"
"If he goes to Alabama then... _______"
Mike is here so can we let it go....please. I think Attalla put it best, unles we have 4.25 million to buy him out we have what we have. I think we'll be ok personally.
Where does the 4.25 mil come from? I find it impossible to believe that he has that large of a buyout.

And sure he would be looking to move up. But we would have had 2 more NCAA tournaments to our credit, which we don't have. Financially, its better to have success for a short time than be mediocre for a long time.
Congrats To Coach Grant, he'll be barking like a dawg next year.
We would be 10x better with that young man.
Hell, we may even have a bench full of players, instead of a bench full of men in suits. 05-stirthepot

the number is 2.4
Do other fanbases torture themselves playing "what if?" over coaches they didn't hire quite like we do?
East Boise State Community College does.
Ah, old EBSCC, and their missed opportunities...03-lmfao

Thanks for the correction my friend. The point is if we bought him out we couldnt afford a ball boy next season. The journey will continue and let us see where it takes this post season and next season.
WE DON"T HAVE TO BUY HIM OUT! HE CAN BE FIRED FOR CAUSE RIGHT FREEEKIN NOW. The Dr. G. & the AD wouldn't need 2.4 pesos to fire him because of the academic state of the team.
2.4 not 4.2.

It's still allot of money.

That may incur a legal battle costing us a lot more than the buyout.
Murry Bartow's team is also headed to the NCAAs. What's your point? Do you want Murry back too? Look... we're stuck with what we've got for the moment. I don't begrudge our administration for trying to make a big splash. It didn't work to this point, but that doesn't mean it wasn't worth a shot. Alot of the success of Murry Bartow and Anthony Grant probably has to do with the conference they play in. Both teams have lower RPIs than UAB. The difference is that they play in weaker conferences where they can get the auto bid by virtue of winning their conference tournament. In order for UAB to get the same auto bid, we have to run through one of the top teams in the nation... on their home floor.

What cause? Do you know the details of his contract?

How is that when we are facing no further APR hits?

T-Rod won’t count against us.
Bassett won’t count against us.
Jr won’t count against us.
Sharpe will not count against us.
Berrios is going to get his degree.
Huffman will not count against us.
Mayfiled will not be released until he qualifies. And he is already been counted any way.
The current players are fine.
Davis is taking the team to post season again.
There is no proof he is out job hunting on UAB’s dime.
How can we fire him?

Explain how we can fire him for just cause?
