Went to see the WATCHMEN today. It's ok if you like sausage.
Saw IMAX midnight showing last night. Had read the novel two or three times, and I enjoyed it. Some people were upset with it when leaving the theater but it was what I wanted it to be. Better than the plot hole filled Dark Knight.
The density of the story and convoluted way it's told is what makes the novel so cool, but it doesn't translate well to film (as everyone who said this movie couldn't be made correctly assumed). It's just too much for one movie to handle. They did do almost as good a job as they could have, but I thought they botched Veidt completely, I did not like the different ending, and, even though they used some good songs, they put them in the most inappropriate places. I also thought the score was pretty cheesy. Overall, I'd give it about a B-. Still enjoyed it, in spite of its flaws.
The four hour director cut when it comes to DVD will make the movie complete I think. I actually enjoyed the music, though I agree about Veidt.

I thought the ending was fine, but the dialogue left out or given to another character was pretty crappy.
I gotta see this.
Heard there is allot of nudity and sexual situations in the movie making it unacceptable for young kids. It does have a R rating though.
i want to see if the theme i take from the book is what shows up on screen.

in my eyes, the story is about the ultimate total moral failure of "heroes".
I was disappointed. Sound track of the most overused songs in movies. Hated the changed ending. Wish I could have seen more of Carla Gugino's fine ass in her Sally Jupiter outfit. Will still buy the dvd for hour long cartoon of the Black Freighter.

yes, like I said, there's a lot of sausage in the movie (or as missj would say, winger-wangers), a rape scene, a consensual sex scene, etc. not for the kids
its not a book for kids nor should it be a movie for kids. its rated R for a reason.
Why would anyone think a movie rated R would be acceptable for kids? I really enjoyed the film.
I haven't read a page of the graphic novel and watching the movie last night I figured the story is jam-packed in a way a 3-hour movie can't describe. It was good and pretty deep, and yes, not for kids. But no one told that to the 2 sets of parents last night who each brought in two 4-year-olds. The opening scene and credits show just how much it's "not for kids."
the book has so many themes going on, its amazing. and the use of duality in the characters is just impressive. and even if you dont read a word, the detail and story told with just the artwork is worth the price
I get a kick out of stuff like this. I hung out with and briefly dated Malin Akerman shortly after I moved to Toronto in 2002. She is a super cool chicky.
