Disaster strikes. UAB loses by 18. It was a team effort, on the part of UTEP, who suffered only five turnovers and their leading scorer scored thirty points, via 12 two point shots and no three pointers, had 4 assists and 1 turnover. In the mean time, UABs leading scorer scored 1 two point shot, a layup at the buzzer, missed 11 three point shots, had 1 assist and 3 turnovers.

Vaden averaging 39 percent shooting for the season has been the biggest disaster of all for this team. He has attempted 467 shots this season and 282 of those 467 shots were three point attempts.

Oh sure, Robert has made 96 three point shots this season. He also has missed a "whooping" (284) field goal attempts this season. That has to be a UAB record, by far. No other UAB player in history has missed more shots in a season. Find one, and I will gladly eat crow. He has missed (TEN) shots per game. That..... is ridiculous. That also guarantees one thing. Robert will miss another ten shots against Marshall, and he will miss another ten shots per game in the conference tournament. That, in itself, is disasterous for ANY team. It is not enjoyable for any UAB fan to see their "leading scorer" miss seven to ten three point shots in any UAB game, much less, "every" UAB game. It just doesn't make sense and it is "PAINFUL" to watch.

"HELP". I need a morphine drip.
whooping?

yes, whooping, not whopping, as in, "too many whopping misses will get you whooped". Whop, is the sound a ball makes when it fails to go through the basket.
However, had he only missed 10 of his shots against Memphis, we win! See there are two sides to that coin. He misses more shots because he takes more shots. You want your shooters to take shots.

Every loss is not Vaden's fault.
I don't know the numbers, but he seemed to start out rather well last night. Vaden is a streak shooter so in my opinion, we should have stuck with him awhile longer as prime shooter than we did.
You can't blame this loss last night on Vaden. Vaden pretty much hit his average. If you are going to blame a player (and I'm not), you have to look at Delaney and Kinnard, who combined for 10 freaking points.
I wish PDIII had taken a couple of shots beyond the arc, but I'll not let a bad night undo years of good nights.
You have to admit, if they were going to have a bad night, last night was about the best option.

You don't want to lose on Senior night, and you don't want to lose early in the conference tournament. NCAA or NIT we want to make a run, so if last night was going to happen, it came at a pretty good time if you ask me.
IMO, Vaden takes WAY too many shots. Our offense should be more balanced with Vaden, PDIII, and Kinnard getting almost equal looks.

Kinnard can score from anywhere on the floor better than anybody.

Delaney is the best at getting to the hoop and his jump shot has improved.

Vaden has relied way too much on the 3 lately and that has really hurt us.

When one player is getting 30% of the shots but you have two others who make a higher % than that shooter then you have an unbalanced offense.

In our losses Vaden averages 18 shots per game versus 14 shots per game in our wins.
Except last night Lo and PD3 couldn't buy a basket. What do you do?
That was an anamoly with those two being that off.

Still, we have Toney and Crawford. They didn't get opportunities.

I didn't see the game but I've seen enough of our games to look at the stats and get a good idea of what was happening.
Excellent deduction. Way too many....unbalanced.
Kinnard supposedly sprained his ankle. We will blame the loss on that camera man that was on the floor.
We need an offense that isn't based upon hitting a 22 footer.
What we need is a viable low post big man. Then when the outside shots arent falling the penatrate and assist game will pick up the slack. Simple as that we need a strong pesrsonailty big man period.
How different would this team be with Reggie Huffman and Big Z on it?

It's a shame Davis basically traded Huffman for Bassett who will never play for UAB.

I'm not so much on Davis for his Xs and Os but for his team management. There are nights teams simply do not preform. It happens but to have a depleted roster for three years in a row is inexcusable.

Davis has an opportunity to make amends this off season and show us he has learned from his mistakes. I am not calling for his head but I am calling for some accountability.

In the mean time, we have Senior day to get ready for.
Yeah, I think 4 years is the magic number for any coach in college sports. By that time you should be playing with your seniors, and we should be able to see what kind of team we can expect in the future. Now I don't see Davis topping guys like Kinnard and Delaney, but he may surprise us, he did get CT, and that guys character is as good as any Blazer we've ever had, imo. I'm interested to see what a full Davis team will look like next year.

agree with everything except the Big Z part. I dont think that kid has the athletic ability nor the toughness to have helped this team this year. Davis better surprise us and bring in some quality kids next year or a change will have to be made.
Thing is with Z, we won't know. He would have had a full summer of workouts. You simply cannot say he would not have helped. If he did not have potential Ohio State would not have taken him, he would have had to go to a smaller school. Big Z would have helped IMHO. Losing Z was a bigger blow than most here are willing to admit. It would have been nice to rotate Z with Crawford, then that would allow Cam to rotate at the 4 instead of the 5 and CT would have never played the 4 spot..
