Was Tiggs cheated? Sollazzo not on freshman team.

Goldfinger

What a crock
That is just sad.
Quote:posterformerlyknownasthedoctor:
I seriously doubt Brown makes all-freshman team. Smith may not make second team, either. Not saying he won't; saying he might not.
I might consider putting Florence first team instead of Ben Smith, but that's splitting hairs, almost....

I'm not shocked Sollazo didn't make the freshman team, but mildly surprised. I am shocked Pigram wasn't first team. I'm betting those votes were in before the last couple of games?

Goldfinger

I agree with you concerning Sollazo. I don't think Renfroe deserved POY
WTF? 01-wingedeagle

Florence deserved POY before Renfroe, A-Sun has no credibility
I don't understand this at all.

Goldfinger

No one does
In a way I like it. This should be motivation to those players (as if the seniors needed any with this being their last shot at the NCAAs).
ASUN stats only:

Tiggs - 20.5 ppg (2nd) 51.5% (6th) 2.45 steals (2nd) less than 2.5 assists (not in top 15) less than 4.8 rebounds (not in top 20)

Renfroe - 17 ppg (5th) 61% (2nd) 2.5 steals (1st) 5.1 assists (1st) 6.9 rebounds (9th)

This is insane! No Mike Smith, No Adam Sollazzo?? James Florence over CP? Jonothan Rodrigues over Mike Smith? Are you kidding me? I ask this: What kind of stats would Adam, CP, K.Tiggs, and Mike put up on another team?? Florence is a great player, but not a winner. Rodriguez is overrated.

Tiggs and Renfroe are stastistically comparable, but Tiggs deserved the nod. Ask any coach in the league who the more difficult matchup is, and I'm confident they would say Tiggs.

I hope our boys see this and our pissed about it. I know I am.

Goldfinger

I've missed you faithful!
I haven't been this pissed since Eryk Thomas was robbed of Defensive-POY.

Goldfinger

Rodriguez is the most overrated player that I've ever known. I can't think of a more overrated player even back in the SoCon days. Maybe someone else can but I can't.
Rodriguez got about the same buzz in this league as Jason Conley did for VMI? Remember him? He transfered to Missouri. The only thing is Conley was 50 times better than JRod.

Goldfinger

I don't remember Conley. Was he after the twins?
Actually Ben Smith deserved POY, he did lead his team to the championship. A close second should have been Tiggs. The nod should have gone to Tiggs IF ETSU hadn't choked.

The POY from the conference's third place team is bush league.
Yes, I think so. Quickest first step I've ever seen in the SoCon. Made NBA, as you know........don't know if he's still playing or not......
I disagree with you on this BucDoctor. What place his team finishes in should have virtually no bearing on his consideration for this honor, or any other. In fact, more often than not an MVP (which this award is not, exactly) should (or at least *could*) come from a poor team, because in such an instance he *is* more valuable. I know it doesn't happen that way in most of sports, but I think too many voters neglect the strict definition of the words "most valuable".
Thus, respectfully and imo, the fact that Jacksonville won the regular season should not give Ben Smith any help whatsoever.
I think the choice between Renfroe and Tiggs was close, but like others, I also think Tiggs is the tougher matchup.

Btw, the choice of coach of the year is accurate and obvious.

Goldfinger

Poster,

Honestly I don't know that I agree about the cocach of the year....As much as I HATE to say this...I would consider what's his face from DAVID lipscomb or Laing from Campbell.

ETSU and Jacksonville both had the most talent in the league...both coaches watched on as their teams fell apart in the month of Feb. Jacksonville did do what it had to do hold on and squeeze out the regular season crown....but Neither ETSU nor Jacksonville should have been in the position they found themselves in at the end of the year. Where DAVID lipscomb and Campbell took a group of under acheivers and pulled a team out of them down the final stretch. That is coaching. Or so it would seem in my eyes.
