Full Version: Did the atmosphere hurt against Memphis?

Davis has stated in the coaches show that our team played tight against Memphis Thursday night. He also noted that he saw the same tightness with the Lady Blazers when they played Marshall for the Think Pink game. My question is when we ONLY pack out the house for one game a year, does it hurt the team???? I tend to think that it does.
Let me add that the sold out, crazed environment hurt our guys because they have not played in that environment at home this year. It should be that way for every game, not just when Memphis comes to town.
I thought that at the beginning of the game, but those kind of effects wear off after the first media timeout. Of course, both teams only scored 28 points in the entire first half.
I don't know...did it effect them last year when we took the #1 team to the wire and forced the refs to jump in and save it for them?

I think that is a bunch of hype. Even if we had packed it out every game this year, the atmosphere would have been different for the Memphis game. What about the crowd getting loud and pulling us through with UCF, USF, SMU? There have been plenty of games this year when the crowd has pulled our guys through, so I don't think it would make sense that it would hurt them this time. I think it's more likely that it didn't phase Memphis like it did the other teams because they are used to it.
Nope. They led with 5 mins left and simply did not make the plays down the stretch to win the game. I do think they got tired which may explained all of the and 1's. Speaking of which, is it me or when UAB fouls it usually result in FT's or and 1's???
