Impressive for a conference with far more limited financial resources than the BCS programs.
To complete, here are 3 more teams...
KSU baseball is ranked #18.
KSU wrestling is ranked #20 (and beat CMU at CMU!)
KSU women's golf is #11.
i think you can add women's volleyball to the list, too. and i'm not just talking about Ohio volleyball which has been a presence on the national scene for the past several years. the MAC did get three teams into the NCAA tournament this past fall with Ohio, Miami, and Western Michigan making the field, and WMU getting to either the second round or the Sweet 16 as I recall. pretty nice!

I disagree that this is impressive. I believe the conference should always produce top 25 caliber product and have team(s) ranked in every sport.

Otherwise we don't belong in the division I echelon of college sports.

Just sitting at the table with the big boys isn't enough. Some of our teams/programs have to win or its an exercise in futily.

Top 25 is one level, however Miami is currently ranked #7, CMU finished the season ranked #10 and Akron's Soccer team finished at #7.

MAC teams finishing in the top 10 nationally should be a source of pride. A nonBCS team finishing in the top 10 of any sport is quite an accomplishment.
Then I should add that KSU's men's golf team finished last season 6th in the NCAA tournament.

Remember Miami's hockey team does not play in the MAC, they play in the CCHA, and were ranked #1 this year.

Can now add KSU gymnastics at #24!!
This thread reminds me, Miami Hockey should have replaced Akron Soccer at the NCAA Championships. In a quirky deal, Akron had to forfeit their home field advantage (bad field conditions) and play as the home team against Northwestern AT Northwestern. The winds off Lake Michigan made the grass slick as snot, with Akron losing, 1-0, I believe. The NCAA needs to move the soccer season so teams don't have to play into winter. It's deplorable!

By the way, Axe, I deleted CMU's wrestling loss to Kent off of my computer. So in my mind, it didn't occur. 03-wink

Excellent. I can't imagine too many schools ever have 4 separate programs top 25 ranked at the same time while all are still playing. Has to be a MAC first. 04-cheers

The NCAA needs to move the college baseball season back at least a month so that northern baseball teams don't have to play 17-20 straight road games to start off the season.

+1
There are MAC baseball games scheduled on Ohio diamonds TODAY! Seriously. We have single-digit temps and highs in the 20's, maybe low 30's.

Tuesday 3-Mar Bowling Green@Dayton Dayton, OH 2:00 PM
Tuesday 3-Mar Marshall@Miami Oxford, OH 6:00 PM
Wednesday 4-Mar Pittsburgh@Ohio Athens, OH 4:00 PM
Wednesday 4-Mar Cincinnati@Miami Oxford, OH 4:00 PM

Madness.
One thing that seperates Miami hockey from other "minor" sports in the MAC is that our 3,600 seat Arena has been sold out since it opened. 12-1500 tickets are saved for students, first come first serve, the rest of the seats are sold as season tickets at a price of $20. We will NOT sell out our home playoff games as the students will be on break and the tickets were not part of the season ticket package, and some fans (like me) will be in Cleveland at the MAC tournament.
They already did move back the baseball season about two weeks. You have to travel if you want to be the best. The home games in early March are pointless. Half of them get cancelled and you have a greater risk of injury. Dayton can play Bowling Green on a Wednesday in April.

Yep absolutely ridiculous to expect players to play baseball when the weather is like that especially with aluminum bats.

Redhawk hockey brings in more ticket revenue than most MAC mens hoops teams.

CMU ranks in the top ten nationally for wrestling attendance.
