Suddenly dangerous NIU beats Ball State today to send things into all sorts of craziness.

BSU is now 7-7. WMU (6-7) is at Toledo tonight and can regain a tie with the Cardinals. CMU (6-8) is hosting EMU tonight and can pull within a game with two to play.

It's gonna be a wild ride in both divisions.
I did pick western Michigan and Kent State as my two preseason picks to win each division. WMU with 18 losses on the verge of winning the west they have Ball State and CMU at home and at Toledo tonite. Ball State lost their best player to injury so many expected Ball State to slide late in the year when teams need its top players to step up. Ball State/WMU have a chance to get the 7th seed away from Ohio. NIU finishing 10 all the sudden looks like a better team now.
EMU just won @ CMU 57-56

CMU and NIU have identical 5-9 conference records. 2 of those CMU victories were in fact over NIU though.
Did the Eagles hit a buzzer beater? What happened there?

Eagles were up somehow and stopped CMU from putting the ball in the basket in the final seconds.

Almost a blueprint of what happened when Ball State visited NIU today.
Toledo's blue is actually called "Midnight Blue"?

Toledo up 3 pts. Kool to the line with 5 secs left.

Yes it is. Always has been.
Toledo up by 1. Timeout. 5 secs left.
Tyrone Kent to the line for the Rockets.

63-62 before the shots
First one missed.

Second one missed.

Amos with the rebound. To Kent.

GAME OVER!

63-62 Toledo final
Wow. That's nuts.

So the West's top three go down to the bottom three tonight... crazy.
Toledo sweeps their double header today.
Thanks Toledo and EMU for helping our chances in the west
Another craptastic loss for the Broncos, the only team in the league to get worse as the season goes on. Congrats to the Rockets. We feel your pain this season.

Other than NIU, I don't see any west team improving.

Improving from when? Ball State lost it's best player for the season during the conference opener, but is still in good shape to win an admittedly weak division. I'm pleased with Ball State's improvement this year.
Only one MAC team has beaten Ball State by double figures this year. They lost at Miami by 18. The Cards have lost on the road at CMU by 6, Toledo by 4, Bowling Green by 4, and Northern by 1. They have lost at home to Kent by 7 and Akron by 8. I'd say that's not bad for a team that lost its best player in the first conference game of the season and was picked to finish 5th in the West. The Cards are not going to go down in the tournament without a fight.

Umm...Buffalo sees your remark and raises you a four game losing streak with the potential to reach seven.

NIU can still win the West!! Several things have to happen and Akron would have to finish ahead of Buffalo also for NIU to get in, but its possible. Who would have thought a team 3-9 in conference play just a little bit ago, could still be playing for a number 2 seed! :) The Eastern Michigan win vs CMU tonight has opened the door for the Huskies.

Here is a possibility that could give NIU the West, let me know if I got something wrong:
