If you guys drop Colorado, can Akron have them to play in our stadium?
So Wyoming plays Colorado? What's the big deal? Sounds like a game both school's fans would love.
Drop AlcornSt,GardnerWebb or CoastalCar.
Colo & Wym play somebody somewhere.
Why have so many MAC teams canceled or are trying to cancel HOME GAMES against BCS opponents? CMU included.

It use to be we could NEVER get a BCS home game. Now that we can, we start dropping them. Wait, I know the answer, the almighty $$$ (or should I say, lack of them).

Wyoming is ALREADY on Colorado's schedule, playing at Boulder the week after the MU-CU game. If BG and Miami both want out of those games, its not going to be a simple case of matching up WYO and CU. They are going to have to find both of them new opponents.

I'd like to see what KY is offering for that game in Cincy (which would be pretty much a neutral site).

Would it really be "neutral" playing a game just over the state border? There's tons of UK fans down that way I'm told. I know there are plenty of Miami fans that way too, but I could see the UK fans easily outnumbering the Miami fans.
It would be a major mistake to back out of a home game against a national name like Colorado.

Try the Kentucky game another year.

+1
I'm glad Toledo has never had -- or felt it had -- to do this. Having nationally known teams like Boise State, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Missouri, Arizona and Fresno St on the home sched (at least one a year) is a real treat if you're a UT fan. And we have the seventh largest (or fifth smallest) stadium in the conference!
Rick,

Here is why UT can keep their prime home games.

http://www2.indystar.com/NCAA_financial_..._stat/show

Don't know what year this is for but UT had almost $1M bucks for home ticket sales.

Other MAC schools had a small fraction of that amount.

WMU had to give up a 'home game' vs. Michigan State at Ford Field in '09 for fear that it would be a financial flop. (it would not have been a season ticket game for MSU and might not have sold out).

NIU backed out of a home game against Wisconsin in favor of playing at Soldier Field. 03-banghead
why couldn't Ford field game be part of season ticket package with Mich St.
just do it
There's no incentive for MSU to add that to their season ticket package.
even if MSU keeps the money, Doesn't it come up when negaiting contract.
it's not rocket science, hey why don't you put part of package & we will too.
hey that's great idea, & we can get people to show up & when we play the game we'll have full house.
Doesn't Ford Field sell MAC package, That's more people might show up.
Corprate sponsor, what & have them sell tickets too.
you might need a consultant for that idea.

Or instead of work, we can move game to Spartan stadium & i can seat here with my feet prop up & tell everybody what a great job I'm doing
No, I don't think it does. You can't tell another school how to market.

Because it was a WMU "home" game, not an MSU home game. They refuse to play WMU in Kalamazoo.
So your telling me that the possiablity of MSU helping sell tickets never came up
& that MSU saw no benifit for themselves in selling tickets to the game.
How many season tickets holders does MSU & WM have in Detriot area ?
How many allumni does MSU & WM have in Detriot area ?
was Dave Hoffman of the MCB contacted & thier ticket list aquired ?
Considering WMU would have gotten the gate, yes, it would not have benefited MSU to sell tickets.
Did Penn St. include their game in Philly on their season tickets and forward the money to Temple?

I'm about 95% or higher sure they did not.

Actually, PSU and TU fans 'fought' to buy the tickets through Ticketmaster.

Some believe that some PSU fans bought partial TEMPLE ticket plans to get the game.

I believe NIU/Iowa @ Soldier Field was similar - fighting to get to Ticketmaster first.

Couple thoughts on MSU / WMU.

1). The game probably would sell out if played in SEPTEMBER. There is a falloff in MAC FB support in November, regardless of the weather (outdoors/indoors). I bet WMU/IL would have drawn another 10K if it were a SEPT game.

2). That said, I believe the game would have drawn well simply because there are many thousand Metro Detroiters (e.g., MSU alums and fans) who would like to see a single game near where they life. I don't see 15K MSU students driving to Detroit for the game, though.
