2. What Sun belt team has the best all-time winning record ?

3. What only team in the Sun belt to ever finish a season as a nationally ranked team among major colleges?

4. What is the only Sun Belt team to play a football game vs UCLA ?

5. What is the only Sun Belt team to play a football gave vs Ohio State ?

6. Who is the only conference member, since football war formed in 2001, to play in the New Orleans Bowl and also the NCAA tournament ?

7. Who are the three (3) Sun Belt teams have never played in a 1A major college bowl ?

8. What Sun Belt teams have all time winning records (football) ?
I'm assuming you're talking mainly about football.

1. What is the only team playing in the Sun Belt that has never played a Big 10 team ? - I'm going to guess FIU. Simply for the fact they haven't been around that long, and I think the other newcomer in FAU beat Minnesota a couple of years ago.

2. What Sun belt team has the best all-time winning record ? - Troy, hands down. There might be another team that is close, but I gotta think we're in the lead currently.

3. What only team in the Sun belt to ever finish a season as a nationally ranked team among major colleges? This one is a bit confusing. I can't recall any Belt team being ranked as a 1-A team. I know several of the schools have won NC's as 1-AA, but a 1-A ranking I don't recall.

4. What is the only Sun Belt team to play a football game vs UCLA ? Not sure on this one. Maybe UNT?

5. What is the only Sun Belt team to play a football gave vs Ohio State ? Troy, last year. Too easy.

6. Who is the only conference member, since football war formed in 2001, to play in the New Orleans Bowl and also the NCAA tournament ? Not sure if you're counting Troy's NCAA tourney bid from the A-Sun back in 2003.

7. Who are the three (3) Sun Belt teams have never played in a 1A major college bowl ? FIU, ULL, and ULM.

8. What Sun Belt teams have all time winning records (football) ?
Gonna go with Troy, MTSU, and North Texas.

haha, i'm not surprised that many of those were UNT based. fun idea though, anyone else got some questions?

What about to have a team in the mens and womens Final Four?
What two Sun Belt teams have identical 2-0 records against Miami (FL) in football?

Middle Tennessee & Western Kentucky

Might want to check that math there. Winning 509 games out of 910 is roughly 56% winning percentage, not 62.84%. 55.93% to be exact. Troy has won 472 of 848, or 55.66%. That is basically a tie. A couple of wins more for Troy, or less for MTSU would make it pretty much dead even. Make it 507 of 910 for the Blue Raiders, and that percentage is 55.71. Make Troy's 473 wins and it becomes 55.77 percent.

Also, I think I should get partial credit for Troy going to the B-ball tourney. I know that we were still in the A-Sun when we went, but the question said since football was started in 2001, and we have been to the dance since then. If we're going back to the 70s when UNT was ranked in the coaches poll, then we should be able to go back to 2003 when we were still in a different b-ball conference.

You may have been in the dance in '03 but you were not a member of the Belt which the question implied. Nice try05-stirthepot

Well, if we're gonna 05-stirthepot then I'm gonna have to say that your question about a Sun Belt school finishing ranked has to be eliminated. Technically, the Belt didn't start football until 2001, and y'all were not members until then.

Here's a quick rundown of your conference affiliations over the years:

1913-1924 Independent

1925-1930 Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association

1931-1948 Lone Star Conference

1949-1956 Gulf Coast Conference

1957-1974 Missouri Valley Conference

1975-1977 Division I Independent

1978-1982 Division I-A Independent

1983-1994 Southland Conference

1995-1995 Division I-A Independent

1996-2000 Big West Conference

2001-20XX Sun Belt Conference

So your ranking in the 70s was as a D-1 independent.
And while we're at it, some historical records can be misleading. For example, Troy is 35-29-1 against Sun Belt Schools in football, using the current conference members. Just a few games over .500. But if you restrict it to just 2001 to now, the timeframe of the Sun Belt in Football, our record is 29-11. Over that same timeframe, here is the rest of the conference:
ASU is 22-22.
FAU is 22-15.
FIU is 7-28.
ULL is 23-23.
ULM is 22-25.
MTSU is 26-22.
UNT is 21-26.

So while we're being nit-picky about trivia questions involving historical rankings of current schools, and who has or hasn't been to the dance as a SBC school, the numbers don't lie in terms of purely SBC competition since the conference began having football.

Like TDC's signature quote, we OWN the Sun Belt.

Reading comprehension:

The national ranking questions was ever. Most rational folks take that to mean in history.:ncaabbs:

Bowl, NCAA question. Since the Sun Belt was formed in 2001 was for existing conference member.

Rather than pitch a hissy fit05-stirthepot why don't you make a post with your own trivia questions04-cheers
