Here's a video interview done by my FOX station here in Norfolk/Virginia Beach. At about the :45 mark, the interviewer asks Alexis Grace if she shopped herself to the music industry in Nashville, since she's from Tennessee and lives pretty close to Nashville. "Did you bang on doors there in Tennessee before your American Idol audition?" (As though Nashville is all there is to music in Tennessee)

Alexis is already tactfully representing Memphis! She replies: "I'm such a Memphis Girl. I love Blues and Soul, and I think that's my thing. That's where it all is right there. I love Nashville, don't get me wrong."

I LOVE TO HEAR THAT!

I'm not a big Idol fan, but have latched on this season because of Alexis Grace. I loved her before I saw that interview, but her response just earned her "legend" status! Awesome!

Nice! Way to defend Memphis!

She is my son's first cousin. His mom (my ex) is younger sister to Andrea, Alexis' mom. Alexis is a lifelong midtowner so Nashville is a stretch. We stayed home from the SMU game to see if she would advance. Hoped and thought she would given her performance Tuesday. That was incredible.
My son has messages on his Facebook page, "You are Alexis' cousin? Wow."
