Suns offer Amare for Rudy gay Conley and Warrick ... Dude make that trade draft well and you have a freaking superstar ! Gay is not a superstar , hes to selfish and moody and conley wont be a great nba PG ....03-banghead
Amare is in a contract year and there is no promise that he will re-sign. He also is injury prone. Trading two young, quality players when you are not a contender would be foolish.
Wow you my friend are not smart. In no way do you give up Gay for Amare. Also 3 players for Amare is asking for too much. I wouldn't have pulled the trigger either. Gay is the center of the franchise right now you don't trade somebody like him.
Not smart ??? I would pay to watch Amare , i wont take free tix to watch a bunch of decent College players get beat up on by the NBA body !!!! And gay is not the franchise player , that would be O.J. and you may want to ask people who will be the better player and 3 for one is ok.... money wise ...and who's to say he wouldn't resign ..City gets behind him and he likes it here and they actually draft well for once , he might stay ! You people can give up on Lebron or Wade or Bosh or Boozer , their not coming here ! SOrry.
Thats a tough trade to turn down, but i'm not surprised the grizz/heisley turned it down. Its a big gamble not to take it, because amare is one of the best bigs in the nba. Personally, i think the grizz would be better if they had that dominate inside/outside punch vs having oj and gay. I also think gasol would compliment amare very well, and they would work very good together. Amare is the player the great talent evaluator, jerry west, should have picked, and i say that sarcastically. I kind of doubt the suns would have let another western team get him anyways. I bet they would have backed out somehow. I feel he will go to an eastern team for sure, hopefully, the bulls.

The grizz are going to be a lottery team again. If they made that trade for amare, there would be some good starting pg's most likely coming out that could replace conley like brandon jennings, stephen curry, ricky rubio (who blew me away last summer with his toughness and ability against the redeem team), and ty lawson. The chances of getting thabeet or griffin will be slimmer, but hey, who knows what will happen.
okay you get amare then you have to rebuild at the pg and sf spot so you end up spending more money than it would take sorry but amare plays no defense and is a team cancer that can only thrive in one style of offense ill pass on what woulf have been the worst trade ever
The Grizz don't suck. They are good for Memphis. I really hope people start to realize that.
Whos to say Gay resigns after next year and if you think Conley is the answer at Pg ur insane ! Gay is replacable but Amare would be a STAR here , what you grizzlies fans all say you want ! And Darko nor Pau played defense either so don't act like the Grizzlies are all about defense all of a sudden ..They need to think about selling a few tix.... Even the Hawks sell tix and did even when they were in the cellar ... Draft better and you wouldn't be in the situation !
amare sucks if he is such a star how come he cant carry the Suns why are they so eager to get rid of this supposed Star. Stars are untouchable but they are sure trying to get his ass off their team. Sounds like they are trying to trade a team cancer and if Conley and Gay suck so much why would they want to trade their STAR "as you like to call him" player for them awnser me that. Amare isnt what this team needs you can turn you application in to the grizzlies front office if you think you can do better
You don't trade one of your big "3" for an injury prone, system player like Amare (his numbers are WAY down this year) that is in a contract year. He's not going to resign here.

Let him take the money and go to the Knicks.

He's not in a contract year. He has another year left on his contract and then a player option for a third year. However, he is overpaid and he'll tie up all of the Grizzlies' cap room. You could get two quality players for the price of Stoudemire and then get some decent players in the draft. If Gay had a similar contract, I'd probably make the trade straight up but I don't think I'd throw in Conley and Warrick.

+1
I'm glad they didn't give up Conley, Gay & Warrick to acquire Stoudemire. He makes a lot of money, could get hurt and may not re-sign with the Griz. Plus he is known to have an attitude problem and does not like playing defense. I agree with what someone above says that OJ would be better paired with a big than Rudy. It's too bad we don't have a Lamarcus Aldridge to pair with OJ. I would offer Gay, Conley & Warrick for Aldridge and Outlaw. That would let you slide OJ to the point, put Outlaw at the 3 and you would have Aldridge and Gasol who would compliment each other pretty well. You'd just need to get a solid 2 to put next to Mayo, maybe Harden or a free agent... We'd just be lacking a 3 and two 2's. You have Mayo/Lowry, Aldridge/Arthur, & Gasol/Millicic, which would be a good start. Of course, Portland probably wouldn't want to give up Aldridge but one can dream......
I'm glad the Grizzlies recognized that this would be a horrible trade.

i agree GT.

we could have kobe and lebron and they would still hate on the grizz.
NO its the fact the they will NEVER have a Kobe or Lebron ...Guys like that are not coming to play for the Grizzlies ..The draft has never gone there way because its rigged .. Theres no chance unless they trade for a star ..and Amare no matter how you people want to put him down , just like you did Pau , is a star ! Phoenix is no good because they have no bench and an aging PG and Center ....
The Grizzlies are showing a lot of improvement under Hollins, even without one of their best players.

It would be absolutely ridiculous to trade Rudy and Conley for Amare; especially throwing in Hak. Let's not forget he put up 31 last night.

To say that Rudy will never be Kobe or LeBron is a ridiculous statement. That does not mean he won't be a solid multiple time all-star you idiot. There haven't been 5 players in the history of the game as good as Kobe or LeBron.

Conley is lightning fast and is starting to make increasingly better decisions. He wouldn't even be out of college yet had he stayed, so cut him some slack. The core of the Grizzlies is a very inexperienced but highly TALENTED group with a TON of upside.

Amare is not the answer for the Grizzlies. He wants to be in a situation where he is the prime scorer on a team, and with future all-stars Mayo and Gay on the roster, that simply will not be the case. We also don't want his pillow-soft defense messing up our frontcourt.

Heisley has the right plan for once: let Rudy, OJ, Conley, and Marc grow. If he keeps that nucleus intact and they continue to make strides at their current rate, the Grizzlies will be a very dangerous team as early as next season. Warrick would be a great scoring post threat off the bench, and let's not forget about Arthur potentially living up to his projected draft status.

Amare might put a few butts in the seats, but the Grizz would probably only win a handful of games more with him, and it could seriously damage them by destroying the core this team is building around. Winning will put thousands more in the seats than any name on the back of any jersey.

Don't forget Heisley took a massive amount of heat for trading Battier to get Rudy in the first place--he isn't about to let him go for anything.

I was at the LeBron game in Memphis and when AA sank that shot against Tulsa, all the aisles in the building watching it on TV went nuts. Because they are Tiger fans. No, make that Memphis fans. And during the Memphis-Gonzaga game, the same deal, according to Caulkins..

The Grizzlies do have a nice young player in Mayo. Hollins does seem to be figuring some things out. And even if there weren't a lot of people in the building Saturday, the ones who were there got real loud at times.

Like, you should have heard them when the Grizzlies announced the Memphis-Gonzaga halftime score.
I would love to have Amare here but not at the cost of Conley, Gay and Warrick. Amare is not so great when Nash isn't feeding him the ball on the fast break constantly.

I would give up Conley, Warrick and some cap relief to get Amare however. Maybe even Darko...but to give up Rudy Gay in this deal would be silly imo.

I would love to see a Grizz starting five with Lowery, Mayo, Gay, Amare and Gasol.
If Amare didn't have a contract about to expire then sure, take the chance and make the trade. Since he does, it isn't worth it.
