Dan Hoard said during the game that Ibrahima Thomas broke his hand during practice, out 6 weeks.
better this year, than the next
Yeah, better now than next year, and seems we got a player who isn't afraid to mix it up.
He looked to have a soft cast on it tonight, had the thumb wrapped up.
It was casted up at the ND game
Hopefully getting it out of the way now.

Did they say he broke it during a scrap or anything?
Something about patting a policeman's horse on the neck as he was coming out of a bar.

I hate to be the source of misinformation, so here goes:

Ibrahima told me he broke his hand before the game on Wednesday, but that is not the case (it could have been a language thing...he speaks fluent english but I'm sure there are some terms that he gets slightly wrong).

Just a badly sprained thumb. If he were eligible he would probably keep playing, but UC has the luxury of letting him heal.

Also, I'd be interested in your reaction to my column this week on gobearcats.com:

Thanks,

Thanks Dan, I appreciate you becoming a part of our forum.

You asked for a reaction to your column. I agree with 99% of your column with the following exception:

Quote:As the old saying goes, "time heals all wounds," and 3 1/2 years after Huggs left, the scars are gradually fading.

For many of the die-hards (which this forum teems with) those scars are still red and angry, and will only start to gradually fade when the Zimster is completely out of the state and off the map. It really is that bad.

The rest of your column is fine and I particularly agree that "It is time". Who deserves it more? Maybe at a later date they can have him in the HOF here.

Dan,,as they say.."You da Man"
My reaction is that Huggins deserves a Banner,,he frequently said that "Hanging Banners" was what it was all about. Here's a chance to
do one in his honor. He brought UC to prominence, had 99% of why UC's in The Big East, and the main objection of why he shouldn't be recognized is off to SUNY.
Keep up the great work, and try not to Let Chuck get bounced out of the NCAA broadcast.
Dan - Great article as ususal.

FWIW: You and Chuck have entered the pantheon of guys who I will turn down the TV to listen to the radio play by play while watching. Rare company. Only Joe and Marty ever got that treatment in our household.
Dan,

You and Chuck are the best, and I mean that!

I second what Ctipton wrote, although I'm a bit more pessimistic in that I sense that many of the estranged were fans of the coach as much as UC and may never come back.

OUChf, The Original Dan
Always enjoy your pre and post game Dan. Moreoften than not I've got the TV on mute for away games and listening to 700. Hope you remain the voice of UC sports for years to come. Someone has to keep Chuck in line04-cheers
Cincinnati is a town that only supports winners although perhaps the Bengals are the exception to the rule. I grew up in Boston in the years when the Red Sox and Patriots were horrid but we supported them 100% win or lose. The Cincinnati fans will come back when it is cool to support them again. Now the band wagon fans support X or OSU football. Huggins is only part of the reason why attendance is down, a large part is that they are not winning big. Sometimes I think many fans would rather see us dominate a miserable conference USA than support a damn good Big East team.
