As a follower of Birmingham development, I felt compelled to bring this to you because I just thought this was cool. Really cool actually. Starwood properties, which owns Sheraton and Westin hotels, was considering building a 28-story Westin hotel in conjunction with the BJCC Expansion/Dome project. Well... that plan has been pending, but in the meantime, a DIFFERENT Westin has been proposed and approved at the old Birmingham School Board site facing Linn Park. It's a 14-story Westin Grand Bohemian. Let's just say this thing is niiice. It's considered a 5-star, 4-diamond hotel (depending on which way you want to look at it). It's likely to be designed after the Westin Grand Bohemian in Orlando, so here are some pics to salivate over. (Sorry if you dont like a lot of pictures)
