Full Version: Midweek FN Bubble Watch!

Well, it's Wednesday night, so that means lots of FN Bubble matchups! We had a couple of shockers last night. A surprise 03-nutkick left Ashley Judd's bosoms soaked in tears. In addition, San Diego State knocked off UNLV. Both teams are battling in hopes of being the third MWC team in.

One more note: For this week's FN Bubble Watch, we'll keep all of the teams in their respective groups until after the weekend. Monday, the groups will be reshuffled. I would expect Kentucky to drop to the bubble rung, and Mississippi State to move into the bubble rung after the weekend, but we'll give everyone until the end of the week to get their 01-scout together.

Not much time to waste! On to the bubble games!!!

A-10:

Dayton (33) plays at LaSalle, who isn't too bad (12-8, 3-3). Could the Explorers pull off the upset 03-nutkick ?

St. Joe's (67) hosts George Washington, who is far from their Top-10 days of a few years back. At 0-6 in the A-10, a 03-nutkick would keep St. Joe's at bay.

ACC:

BC (51) takes on Virginia tonight. Will the Eagles blow a road game?

Perhaps more importantly, Miami (50) hosts Wake Forest tonight. Let's hope the Demon Deacons lay a 03-nutkick on Miami and drop them to 3-6 in the ACC.

Big 10:

Surprisingly, there are no Big 10 interconference bubble games tonight.
Northwestern (60) takes on Chicago State in some inter-city lovin tonight.

Big XII:

Nebraska (83) takes on Colorado (1-5) tonight. A 03-nutkick could knock the Huskers out of the bubble mix.

More importantly, Texas A&M (36) goes to Oklahoma (3) tonight. Let's hope that the bastard twins of Ugly lay down the 03-nutkick at home.

Big East:

Two bubblers go at it at 6:30 tonight. Cincinnati (59) hosts Notre Dame (77). Does anyone else find it slightly ridiculous that ND is ranked?

Providence (63) has a chance to get a quality win tonight at home against Villanova.

CAA:

VCU (62) plays on the road against UNC-Wilmington (5-18, 2-9). I don't think Grant's Rams will have a problem here, but stranger 03-nutkick s have happened before.

Don't look now, but Northeastern (55) is very much in bubble territory. They play at William & Mary tonight, who is 1-10 in conference play.

C*USA:

Tulsa (74) goes to Marshall tonight. Coming off of a tough loss to the Blazers, could the Herd 03-nutkick the Canes?

The Mighty Blazers (44) host Tulane. GET YOUR FN ASS TO BARTOW ARENA TONIGHT!!!

Another one to watch for sure will be UCF (99) vs Houston (109). With a win, one could be closer to bubble land.

MAC:

Miami (52) hosts and improving Ball State team (10-9, 5-2). Miami is the favorite for the autobid, but could they get some insurance with a win?

MVC:

Illinois St (58) is still pissed about getting snubbed last year. They will play Southern Illinois on the road tonight.

Evansville (72) goes to Missouri State.

Creighton (78) has a good record at 17-6. They take on Drake on the road tonight.

SEC:

LSU (53) plays at Georgia, who is 0-6 in conference.

Ole Miss (65) has a chance to move up with a game against Auburn.

Note the teams with an * by their names. They are the teams that are behind the first place team in their conference wrt RPI.

If 6 of the * teams get in, BYU, Dayton, Temple, SD St, UNLV, and St. Mary's are the top competition with UAB. VCU, Northeastern, Creighton, Wisc GB, Viagra, New Mexico, Tulsa and Northern Iowa have some ground to make up. Good luck tonight.
St. Mary's will be an interesting case to watch. Without their star Aussie, they might go on a slide, similar to what happened to Dayton last year. As you might recall, Dayton, with an RPI of 30, was snubbed.

The biggest competition with us right now is St. Mary's, Dayton, and the MWC teams.
I would not be at all surprised if they decided to only give 3 bids to the MWC. NCAA doesn't like for non Big 6 conferences to get more than 3 bids.

In 2006 the MVC had 6 teams inside #40 of the RPI. #29 SIU won the conf tournament getting the auto bid, #23, #27 and #33 got at large bids. However, #21 and #39 got the shaft. Anyone know the circumstances of why Missouri State at #21 didn't get a bid? They were 8-2 in their last 10 games, had the 5th best non-conf RPI, and had 4 wins against the RPI top 50.
I can't for sure remember why Mizzou St. didn't get a bid. Did they have a bad loss late in the season?
Their worst loss the entire season was to #45, Arkansas.

Check it out here: http://kenpom.com/sked.php?&y=2006&team=Missouri%20St.
That's FN disgusting!

I hope more than 6 non-BCS teams get bids. If not, a deserving team from the A-10 or MWC will get snubbed.
they didn't win enought big games and lost in first round of their tourney

Tulsa is up on Marshall at the half 34-30.
Tulsa is drubbing Marshall 43-33 at the 14 min mark in the 2nd half.
Houston's beating UCF @ UCF by 30
Looks like Tulsa and Houston are well on their way to blowout wins tonight. ECU will beat USM as well. Pirates lead by 7 with 20 secs. left.
Miami is destroying Wake Forest. That doesn't help UAB.

Wow, UNC-W over VCU and W&M over Northeastern. The top two CAA teams go down playing the worst two CAA teams. UNC-W and W&M both had RPIs of 250+. Those are very bad losses for the two bubble teams.
Final score rundown!

BC wins, and Miami upsets Wake 04-chairshot I'm sure Miami jumps us in the RPI.

Dayton beats LaSalle by two 04-chairshot St. Joe's also wins.

Northwestern wins.

Nebraska wins by two at Colorado. 04-chairshot Texas A&M gets the 03-nutkick , but will probably get an RPI bump.

Cincy 03-nutkick s Notre Dame! This is not only good for us, but pushes ND further back. Providence also gets the 03-nutkick .

Tulsa wins, as I'm sure we all know.

Miami OH gets the win.

Illinois State wins in OT 04-chairshot . Creighton also wins. Evansville gets the 03-nutkick

LSU and Ole Miss both win.

But like HSV mentioned, two surprise 03-nutkick s in the CAA. WOW! This is why we do the FN Bubble Watch, people.

We didn't get the amount of 03-nutkick s that we would have liked. The biggest 04-chairshot would have to be Miami over Wake. We'll have Thursday's games up this afternoon.
The OOC schedule was not much. 1 game at Arkansas which they lost and a bracket buster game vs UWM that they won. The NCAA looks at who you played in OOC as well as who you beat. Winning lots of games at home against teams you should beat is unimpressive regardless of your RPI. UAB will have the most impressive OOC schedule of any non BCS bubble team.
This is how UAB's opponents did on Feb 4: (6-3)
Oklahoma WON vs Texas A&M 77-71
Boston College WON vs Virginia 80-70
Cincinnati WON vs Notre Dame 93-83
Houston WON vs Central Florida 97-69
Central Florida LOST vs Houston 97-69
Memphis WON vs Southern Methodist 79-66
Tulsa WON vs Marshall 73-57
Marshall LOST vs Tulsa 73-57
Tulane LOST vs UAB 81-61
George Washington lost their 11th in a row.

They have had a wave of player defections as well.

Hobbs is toast at the end of the season.

No wonder the Metro stop under the GWU campus has an advertisement for George Mason basketball.

I saw that Indiana won their first conference game last night. With their name, this probably puts them on the bubble 03-drunk
