It was ugly. I didn't realize this until the post-game on the radio, but neither team scored in the last minute and a half. In the last 15 seconds, Andy Robinson attempts to send the crowd into a frenzy when UB broke the press and proceeded to miss a wide open monster dunk. Pierce, who at one time was ~80% FT shooter misses 2. Both cases would have put UB up by 3 with CMU getting the last possession.

On that last CMU possession, UB commits a silly foul, putting CMU on the line for 1 and 1 with about 6 seconds left. The CMU players misses the first, and CMU gets the rebound and misses a wide open put back.

It was almost a shame that somebody had to win. UB missed lay-ups and free throws all game. CMU has that wide open offense where they stand at half court for about 20 seconds each possession to run down the clock.

UB lost its offense the last 2 games. I suppose winning ugly is better than losing ugly, but the team that showed up tonight is going to have problems with some MAC East teams the 2nd time around.

The world really is upside down. UB is sitting at 7-1 in the league and I'm moaning about ugly wins.
Buffalo is 7-1 and continues toward its first MAC regular season title in hoops. What is year for Buffalo. First football MAC title and perhaps the mens basketball regular season title, which guarantees an NIT bid should they fall in Cleveland. 3 game lead on loss column over Kent State and Ohio. 2 games over BGSU sand Akron and 1 over Miami, but UB has those three at home still. Akron and Kent State are right back in the race for a bye. Ohio is pretty much out of the bye hunt having to travel at Akron, at BGSU, at Kent State, and at WMU. All four are ahead of Ohio in the standings.
What is year for Buffalo, indeed.
