That Lamarcus Lowe isn't starting or EVEN playing signifcant minutes. I'll leave it at that.
Yeah, but we're just "web board knuckleheads", what do we know?
I hear yah. when you have that kind of shot blocker, put his butt in the game! you've seen what he's done in LIMITED minutes. HE PLAYED 17 MINUTES TONIGHT! he's what blocked over 30 shots! its a joke. WAKE UP!
I understand the angst.

From what I "heard" or really sensed throughout the game that our bigs played well but at times seemed absent. I couldnt figure it out.

In the post game Hawkins mentioned that both frosh played very well and worked hard. However, the bigger stronger and veteran post play of Buffalo "pushed" us around.

Though not stated so by Hook I was sensing it. No mention of our kids name then suddenly they are present. I guessed and may be off base but I suspect that Ub's bigs were instructed to maintain contact. Don't give them space to move.

A series of instances and one play shaped this in my mind. A number of drives by their guards and no mention of our bigs. Why? Likely they got caught siding their defensive assignment and got pinned then rolled and stuck behind a wide bottom. The other was the lob inbounds with 4 ticks. I thot of three options two of which would be for bigs. Screen for shooter and roll back or seal and lob. Reggie called the lob and it worked in a heartbeat. Why? I didnt "see it" but it usually works with a faking getting a deep position before the ref hands the ball in. The O acquiesces letting the D get between inbounder and post. However, they are too far under, even behind the plane of the backboard. Ball in - jab step away from area of lob, seal and pin, push off going to get ball with Defender caught flat footed.

Hence my comments re DL on another entry. His length and beef would have made both a dual impact. It would have allowed Flen or Lowe to go to the 4 and challenge their perimeters or even roam if matched with another big. DL would get the primary allowing the frosh to float some.
I think the better team won, but..........it was totally winnable.

It amazes me that we can't hit the broad side of a barn when we leave UA, but shoot lights out there. Buffalo shows up and after one shoot around and a pregame warm shoot like UA is their home court.

Several missed layups probably cost us this game, but even then it was winnable.

As for Lowe, when Lowe was out their guards were going in the paint and getting off easy looks. Their centers were posting up and getting off layups. When he was in, what he didn't swat he altered. Hawk's been around 6'6" centers for so long he can't seem to ween himself off them. All I could think was maybe he has conditioning issues at this point.
