MTSU Board:

Quote:per the Monte Hale Show, at least a 50/50 shot for MT to land Tony Franklin, if the "price" is right.

Apparently, he still has money coming to him from Auburn for another 2+ years.

Stock talked to 3 at the coaches convention, and one was indeed Tony Franklin.

Pretty interesting stuff.

This would be good and bad! GOOD because MTSU would get a high-octane offense and would probably be a major player in the SBC and could probably win all of those close OOC games they always have. BAD because Troy would have to compete with them for the same recruits and TF might move his camp from Troy to the 'Boro.
Wow,

That would send most of Trojan nation into fits I would imagine! I know Troy and MTSU are pretty big Rivals.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of his offense. I know the potency of it but I hate the fact that it puts the QB out there. Too often these guys go out and run and when the get popped it can cripple the team emotionally and physically if he gets hurt.

We are doing just fine without him. And as far as facing him...have you seen Troy's defense in the Sun Belt?

ehh depends. but troy's DC would know franklin's offense pretty well since they scrimmage against it in practices.

Yeah, but you have to remember, your D hasn't changed (that I know of), but Franklins O will change a bit due to our HC's influence.

Look, you can have him...I give MTSU permission. I hope he makes your football team better because it needs help big time. It will be nice to have some type of real rival in the SBC during football season. Make the conference look better as well. My thing is that I'm just not worried about Middle anytime soon.

You guys do seem to have the edge right now. Not quite certain what is going on, but I don't think it's just winning. I think you guys have real competition. You do lose a conference game on occasion and don't win the conference every year.

Well since we joined in '04 we have three conference titles and three bowls. In the last three years we have only lost three conference games. (one per year) IMO that's not really competition. Especially since none of our SBC wins are that close.
At least not since 2006.

Troy does seem to not loose much year after year wtih reloading from Juco's to keep it up. Top it off they are produceing some pretty good NFL player, Osi, Leodis, Demarcus Ware.

Troy is going to be hard to catch. Co champions for 2 years in a row, and 1 outright championship. The parity in the SunBelt is surprising. It seems that any team can knock someone off most days in confrence play.

Now the question is WTH can we NOT get it done OOC against the "big" boys. FAU failed MISERABLY in what should of been a great year with as many starters as we had coming back. Once again the, Sunbelt had its SMATTERING of success (Maryland, Texas A&M) but we still got beat.

If we can ever start beating those teams on a regular basis the confrence would have more power to negotiate.

Yeah, and maybe if Troy could finish off those BCS teams when they've got the lead, kind of like the LSU game...

I would think after what happened at Auburn that it would be Tony Franklin's way or no way.

For sure. He's going to have complete control of the offense or he likely won't be the OC. Stock could have a little bit of input, but I doubt Franklin goes if he doesn't get to bring in his own coach's and use his system to the max.
do you think he'll try to raid our staff if he goes?

Why would they leave an established spread offense. They would gain nothing, but might lose their lobs at MTSU if it doesn't work out.
yeah, that's a good point. i was just wondering.
