If anyone wants to follow a gametracker, there is one available at niuhuskies.cstv.com. it's pretty nice. Our playing isn't. Right now we're down 32-15 with 2 minutes to go in the first half.

This is just sad down by 18 at halftime against a very poor NIU team.
You can watch the game online for free on channelsurfing.net.
EMU Loses by 20 against a poor N ILL team. Even though Ramsey has a year left on his contract, hpw does he survive this? Very poor outside shooting team, opponents just pack it in on us. Who has the answers as to why this year's team went south so fast?
I don't see them winning another game. There is just nothing there. I thought with the good showing in the preMAC season they had a good chance in the very weak West. But not now. There just is no glue on this team.

I don't know if things went south so much as we're a bad team and other teams have easily figured us out:

- We can't break the press
- We can't shoot from the outside
- We play a crummy zone defense

And our man to man isn't any better.

This time of year it comes down to coaching, He just can't seem to figure this team out and how to play them. I don't see Ramsey coming back next year. It is a very dissappointing season and it is only going to get worse I am afraid.

This is a really good point. He can't figure them out and how to play them. And....if he can't figure them out because they're not good enough (which is a part of the problem) then that has to fall on his shoulders as well.

I was excited when we hired Ramsey and i still like him, but i think he has lost his way with this team. Realistically we will only have two proven players next season - Medlock and Bowdry. That is not enough to keep Rams around in the hopes that things will be better next season.
Rams reminds me of Genyk this past year, the kids went into the year with high hopes and wow reality caught up fast and eventually I think the staff lost control and the faith of the players and it just went downhill fast. If you want a billboard of disappointment look at Dobbin's production the difference between last year and this is startling. Hm well at least all the freshmen got some time, hopefully they will continue to get time to develop.
Agree with Cowboy on playing the freshman, the seniors haven't done it, frankly not too many players have - feel for Bowdry.

I am concerned about the program as a whole and Gragg should be very concerned as well. Not a lot of hoop discussion and not a lot of peopl attend games - total apathy and next year could be a continuation of this years performance. Sorry!

The apathy is so bad I completely forgot there was a game last night until I started reading this thread.

And what do we have signed for next year??? Two more big men! Gee, that makes good sense.
Stewart would help the outside shooting or a good JUCO wing. Too bad we don't have Dumes who loved to shot it from the outside! I'm still learning towards a point guard who can replace Medlock. LJ just isn't ready yet nor do we know if he'll ever be the heir apparent at PG.

We have a lot of needs, mostly perimeter players, need a 1 , 2, and 3 - either via recruiting or someone currently on the team or injured (Medlock) that can step up. Problem with recruiting help is that we only have one scholarship currently on paper to give. Could be some defections after this horrendous year!
Gragg never says anything - hope he reevaluates the whole program after the end of the season and hope he already has a short list just in case.

LJ really isn't quick enough to be a good starting PG. he's a nice player for what he is, but he'll never be a looked at as more than adequate.
I'm not a big believer in the computer rankings but I just checked the Sagarin rankings. EMU is ranked 321 out of 347 D1 teams! This program is totally unacceptable.03-puke

We are in desperate need of a real college coaching staff. The current group is obviously in way over their heads. 03-banghead
I don't see how this program progresses if Ramsey & Co. return next year. How do you recruit effectively if you and your staff are on the hotseat and coach a team that has become the Detroit Lions of D-I basketball? That's on top of questions as to Ramsey's ability to recruit quality talent to EMU now, let alone in the future. The program needs a instant injection of credibility to increase the badly eroded fanbase and the interest of the casual fans. Only a new, high profile coach can deliver that and, whoever it is, he must be in place next season.
