Quote:Benediction at Obama 's inauguration, Rev. Joseph Lowery: 'Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around... when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen. Say Amen'...
This guy is old school. If you've ever been to a church that is predominately black and their preacher is that old it does become kind of common place. Older people talk like that all of the time.

I love it. If I were to say something similar about the "Black Man" doing what is right, then I would be deemed a racist, but it is OK for a "Older Black Preacher to say it. Nah, that is a double standard.
Yeah it's a double standard and it's not the only one in America. Older people say it because they are still sort of p!ssed because of our history. I'm am in no way implying that this is right and I do not stand by those who talk like that. But if you come from where I'm from you hear it from some of the older ones of both sides.

And how is that different from Kinston NC?
The race relations here have not been so good. For example, the KKK national hotline is based just outside the city limits. For the older people of the city they have seen some horrible clashes in their lifetimes so they are still kind of wary of the intentions of the other races. It's different for the younger ones here because we have gone to school together and no lines of tension formed. But the older ones are still sort of miffed.

Among other things, it's horrible poetry. If only he'd consulted Paul Simon.
The White Guilt people opened the door for this to happen, so get used to the EMPOWERED races to use every opportunity to rub our noses in it. I for one still call a spade a spade.

White Guilt only works because you white people allow it. You white people need to stop feeling guilty over actions over your ancestors. Now if you agree with those actions and are ashamed of how feel then guilt away.

That's probably true. It's the political left feels this way...unfortunately they go after teaching and news coverage positions so they can spread their neuroses.
