Not huge news but informational for those who are interested in the happenings of the BE offices. I would love to see such a deal with Wegmans Supermarkets:

Pathmark Joins BIG EAST As Corporate Partner

PROVIDENCE, R.I. The BIG EAST Conference, in conjunction with its exclusive multimedia rightsholder ISP Sports, is pleased to announce a corporate partnership with Pathmark, one of the nation’s premier supermarket companies.

As part of the new relationship, Pathmark will become the “Official Supermarket” of the BIG EAST Conference, enabling the company to utilize the BIG EAST name and marks (logos) to institute a storewide vendor program in its 146 stores across the Northeast.

Pathmark customers will be provided with special weekly product deals in-store from the end of January through mid- March in conjunction with the BIG EAST Men’s Basketball Tournament, which takes place March 10th-14th. Product vendors involved in the promotions include Utz, Nestle, Dannon, Land O Lakes, Sorrento, Unilever, General Mills, Monster, Reckitt Benckiser, Herr’s, LouAna, Arnold, Thomas, Freihofer’s, Reynold’s and Marcal.

“This is just another way that we get to add value to our customers now our high quality products are not only at the best prices but you also have the opportunity to be a part of one of the true premier college sporting events. We are very excited to be the official corporate sponsor of the Big East!” stated Eric Kanterman, Regional Vice President, Pathmark.

“We are very excited to have Pathmark join with the BIG EAST and ISP as a major corporate partner,“ BIG EAST Commissioner Michael Tranghese said. “The support and commitment we receive from partners such as Pathmark plays an integral role in the overall success of The Conference and our 16 member institutions.”

The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company
Pathmark is part of The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company’s family of supermarkets. Founded in 1859, A&P is one of the nation's first supermarket chains. The Company operates 445 stores in 8 states and the District of Columbia under the following trade names: A&P, Waldbaum's, Pathmark, Best Cellars, The Food Emporium, Super Foodmart, Super Fresh and Food Basics
Let's just hope Pathmark doesn't end up like AIG...
Who?.... I can't believe The Big East just hitched it's corporate wagon to Sam Druckers Hooterville grocery. If The Big East needed "an official grocery store" it should have approached Kroger: 2200 Stores in 31 States. It's been over thirty years since there was an A&P in Louisville.

Kroger would of been a better choice

Pathmark range from New Jersey to Connecticut
Pathmark Store Locations
Pathmark is primarily a New Jersey and NYC chain. There are a few stray stores in PA & NY state (long island mostly) maybe Connecticut. A&P has more of a market in NY state but not much, again its more of a new jersey based storeThe most common (by that i mean largest territory)supermarket in the Northeast(new england, ny,pa, nj) is probably Stop and Shop which is part of Ahold and includes Giant (and others)for those in the DC area.
Why am I talking about supermarkets on BB board? Dont tell the fellas they make fun of me.03-weeping
Inviting Memphis would mean picking up sponsorships of FedEx and AutoZone among other possibilities.

Maybe. Some reliable posters who are typically in the know swear that something is going on behinds the scenes. I'd love to see some real action replace rumor and hearsay.

FedEx seems like a much more suitable sponsor for a BCS conference than a company like Aeropostale or Pathmark.
A Wegmans sub is the best supermarket submarine to have on a gameday.
When I used to live in Joisey, I attempted to buy an ice chest from a Pathmark. I say "attempted", because, they scanned it, and it didn't quote a price. At the time, it was their policy that, if an item does not scan, it's free. I said "FINE" :drinky2:
Should've been Giant Eagle. 03-banghead

GA, Come on man. I have a lot of respect for you. I've enjoyed your posts over the years, but this needs to stop. As much as I'd like for our Tigers to be a part of the Big East, there's a right way and a wrong way to approach it ... 05-nono

I earnestly believe what I said is true, based on what I have heard from various sources, some of which are considered to be credible.
Well lets just wait for the announcement. i think everyone on ths board is by now very well acquanted with Memphis-Liberty Bowl-FedEx ties
Personally, I'd like to see the conference use some of its newer members to gain some sponsorships. For example:

Louisville- UPS, Humana, Yum! Brands
Cincinnati - Kroger, Procter & Gamble Co, 5th/3rd Bank
Orlando is also adding a 3rd bowl game, possibly BE. Although I hope it's Big 10.
I really doubt is with Big East. Our league needs match ups vs BigTen,SEC or Big12. Orlando's bowl would at best get an ACC opponent. No way the Big Ten places three teams in the city. Not good about teams returning to same city in years in arow.
I guess it all depends on bowl negotiations that will be going on this year for the 2010 season.
A 3rd Big 10 team would do better than a 2nd ACC team. Big 10 loves Orlando, they would come down every year if they could. If everything works out. The St. Pete bowl will be BE vs B10/12. The Liberty Bowl will be BE vs SEC. The Bowl for the Cure will be BE vs Big 10/12
They might love Orlando but there has already been rumblings from the Champs bowl on how a Big Ten team that goes to Capital Bowl one year might not attract as many fans returning to Orlando for Champs bowl. having three bowls drawing from same conference will increase the odds of that happening and hurt fans traveling down.
We shall see what happens with all the new tie-ins

A bowl on a CUSA Campus is going to have a CUSA team in it. The only way the BE gets this bowl in its line up is if the alliance is a CUSA / BE bowl or if the BE invites UCF into the conference. UCF now has a weapon to offset the Liberty Bowl for BE inclusion if the bowl pays enough. The UCF bowl location in a warm weather evironment, with a UCF rivalry with USF, with a better TV market than Memphis, just upped the conference bidding in the BE expansion war. Solid Florida connections for FB benefit the BE conference matching the benefits that Memphis would bring to the conference with their BB and Liberty Bowl connections, and the Florida addition would be in the BE footprint. Expansion rumors just get better. Who wins if the BE stays intact and only adds one all sports school.

The BEast needs no more bowl alliances with CUSA. That would serve no purpose...
