Was that just a thing to thank God for a good game and that everyone wasn't hurt too bad or was it for something else?

It was neat to see players from both sides get together like that after a battle.
Isn't that something that FCA started and has carried through all schools?
Not to take away from the topic of the thread, but there was almost a fight after the end of the game as well. Several Houston staff were holding back a large and very angry UH player.

Another good one... Hackney was heading off the field to the locker room when Pat Sullivan came jogging up behind him.
"Hold up, Darrell," Pat said.
"Coach, I gotta pee!" yelled Darrell.
That is the quote of the year as far as I'm concerned.

Also, this was my first time to stand by the tunnel as the players and coaches headed back to the locker at the end of the game. I'll tell you what, you are really missing out if you don't stop by the dragon head next season after a win. I've never seen a man smile as big as Bolt was smiling as he walked back to the locker room.

He was smiling because he didn't have to stand on his little pig legs the entire game.

It's about time somebody did the dirty work for him. Congrats to the defense for showing up tonight...in the first half, at least.

I did notice #93 and #59 walk a slow lap around the field, holding hands, while we played the Alma Mater. It seriously almost made me cry...I watched them talking and pointing at various things in the stadium, probably recounting the great times they had at Legion Field, and that this would be the last time to walk the field as a UAB Blazer. It was very emotional... :crying:
I can tell you as a band member that my last game in a Marching Blazer uniform was emotional. I had a lot of great times in the Old Grey Lady and tonight was pretty cool because I got to be on that field again. There will always be something special about playing at Legion Field. There was when I was in high school, there was when I was in college at UAB, and there was tonight as well. Pretty cool that I haven't been the only one. Just beause the Lady is old, doesn't mean there is nothing special about her (referring to Legion Field). Just my two cents

I don't know if you stayed till the end, but the original UAB drum major, Chris ______ (I forgot), took the podium and directed Pearly. That was the last song he conducted as DM at UAB, and he almost cried tonight while directing it... :crying:

That was Shamar Abrams and Nigel Eldridge, both seniors
They were probably trying to determine how to remove the condemed upper deck.
How does one go about participating in the Alumni Band?

My wife was on the first squad 10 years ago, and although she was sick this week and would not have been able to participate, she'd love to next year....

The band tried to contact all the alumni, but the mailing information they had was mostly out of date because people had moved away and such.

Next year, just contact the band office, or, you could contact them now and leave a mailing address with the band secretary that they could use next year :-)
