FWIW - A dude NC State fans seem to consider an insider is saying this re Wall

http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=178&f=2515&t=3697863&p=7

From what i've been told, John already has his mind made up.... just waiting to see if anything goes on in the next months just to make sure his decision is the right one for him.

He goes on to imply that Wall's choice isn't NC State --
That would be nice if we could see a Jackson vs. Wall matchup, just to see how well JJ matches up against the best PG in this class. Might go a long way in determining if the staff thinks JJ has what it takes to be a Tiger.

It appears that from everything I can gather - Wall seems set on coming to Memphis. Why is he waiting to decide? It is not because of Cal - as he is intent on being here next year. I think it might have to do with the fact that Evans might not go Pro, but that is just pure speculation. Wall might just be taking the time to make sure this decision is right. NC State was never really in it to begin with - as their only real shot was if Wall's mother got deathly ill.

Just speculation. Pure speculation on my part that is backed up by the latest draftexpress mock draft, that has him coming out in 2010. I guess it's more of a hunch on my part. He has a lot of kinks to work out & he seems dead set on listening to Coach Cal, who understands more than anybody what it takes to make it in the NBA. That is only my opinion right now & I understand that he has a lot more games to play this year. He is on the cusp right now imo, so he has the opportunity to move up, that's for sure.

Wall has made up his mind 02-13-banana he's a Tiger. His major hurdles are #1 - His mother's health stays good and #2 - Evans goes pro. If Favors or Cousins sign with us, thats an added push and may cause him to ignore #'s 1 and 2. Thats how I see it from way over here in Jonesboro!! You guys can go ahead and quote me ---he's a Tiger. He'll sign the day after Evans announces He's going to the NBA>
Evans did the same thing back in April - it appeared he was waiting to see "who went pro" too.

We Tigers fans can all assuredly/undoubtedly eliminate Favors off of our wish list (see above article and many, many other sources)

Let's assume Evans does not go Pro, then how does that play in to Wall's mind? Personally, I don't think it should sense Wall would be the starting point guard next year and Evans would move over to a swing position. Am I missing something here?

Yes, Henry will be at the 2.

There are reasons this could not happen and one starts with an "I" but I'm too superstitous to spell it out..

First of all - we all know that everybody who is anybody thinks that Evans will be gone. Fine - but we can still speculate (that is what makes this board fun). I, for one, just don't see Wall making his decision solely based on what Evans does. If Evans does come back, that clearly means he struggled a bit at PG & couldn't seem to get over that hump & become the star player everyone thought he would. What does that tell you? It tells me that Wall might be more prone to come to this team if Evans comes back. Evans will explode in his natural position (off guard) with a great PG like Wall. There will be plenty of minutes for Evans, Wall & Henry - & of course Cal would take all 3 in a heartbeat. Cousins would definitely be a Tiger if we ended up that way. Who could beat a team with a starting 5 of Cousins, Taggart, Evans, Henry & Wall. Of course, that's just pure speculation at this point.
theres no way evans is near good enough to go pro...he couldnt go at least in the 2nd round hes got alot of growing up to do and he simply needs to develop more as a player
There are alot of players drafted that are not ready to go pro. Happens every year. Evans will be a pro. Period.
I would love to have him and I think he makes our team so much better but Tagg is not coming back. He will already have graduated and has said he is ready to make some money. If that is the NBA great and if not he will go to Europe. You can count Tagg gone for sure.

If for some reason Evans doesn't go pro (which he will); we will see a true dribble drive offense next year with Wall running the show and Henry and Evans interchangeable at the 2/3. Next year we will go back to being FAST. Evans and Kemp aren't capable at speeding the ball up the court; it's not in their game, and Witherspoon is too out of control.

If for some reason Evans doesn't go pro (which I too believe he will), and if that scares Wall away; we will have a scoring point guard with a year of the Memphis attack and Calipari's teachings already down. This scoring point guard plays great defense, and will already know how to run the offense (leading to less early-season struggles).

Look John Wall is great, but this isn't a bad alternative scenario.
