The undefeated, and disputed NCAA champ will be Utah.

The coaches, by rule, will vote for the Winner of the NC game.

The media will vote for Utah.

Congress will hold hearings... 04-jawdrop
Utah won't jump USC. Sorry.

i think they could, if they blow out Alabama in their backyard. Remember USC bascially played a home game at the Rosebowl. If its tight then Utah won't jump USC.

IF Utah hangs on, then the media choose between USC and Utah and bypass the winner of the NC game?

As a non-BCS school Utah will get very little love from the talking heads on the networks----"if they played an SEC schedule week in week out---blah, blah, blah"....a few of the print media may be swayed by what happens on the field, but even then I doubt that Utah gets its due.

Of course there is still a half of football to play and Utah has not won anything yet.
Um, hello. Neither USC nor Utah would jump Texas assuming they smack Ohio State.
love to see AP vote Utah #1
I like splitt NC, 2 parties who cares
Naw it won't go to Utah. I don't seem them passing USC and Texas(if they win) and Florida/Oklahoma winner. I think they deserve to play USC and Texas and Ohio St is another playoff game. Shoot time for a playoffs now.

The only undisputed football champion this year will be the Super Bowl winner.

I'm with TFF:

Split NC.

There was a disputed NC in the late 90s - 'Braska and UofM.

That was 1997, the last year before the BCS. However, LSU and USC have split a NC since then.
The BCS sham is exposed again. I love it.
Utah owns longest current winning streak at 14 games and longest current bowl winning streak at 8 games. Two BCS Bowl victories in 5 years. Utah has as many BCS bowl victories as the Big East and ACC combined over the past 5 years. I think the MWC has earned an automatic BCS bid.

Your wrong OUBob... Big East the past 5 years has 3 wins and the ACC has 1. WVU beat Georgia and Oklahoma and Lousville beat Wake Forest
Va Tech beat Cincy a few days ago. I count 3 wins from the Big East and 1 win from the ACC which equals 4 wins. Utah has earned more wins than the Big 10 though.

That's not true either. If you only got back as far as Utah's first win, both Ohio St. (over Notre Dame) and Penn St. (over Florida St.) have won BCS games.

I'd love to see Utah get a part of the NC, but I have a feeling they'll end up second or third depending on Texas / Ohio St.

It's also interesting that before Virginia Tech's win this year, the ACC Champ had won one BCS game since it began... Florida St. (over Va. Tech) in 1999
Hopefully media thinks thier throwing monkey wrench in BCS & vote Utah #1.
of course, that's why I think BCS works. 2 national champs, can't beat that.
it's not like a playoff gives us world peace or cures cancer.

Here's hoping Fla wins & Utah gets a piece of NC.
in 94, Fla should not have been in NCG after losing to FSU
BYU was next in line, little pay back.
also can not take any more of Tebrow
There is no official national champ, only a "BCS Champion."
and the difference is what
The difference between a true national champ decided on the field and an alphabet champ based on voters whims and self interests, computers, tidal ebb and flow, and ESPN's editorial needs?

My question would be: why do you think there is no difference?
1st off, I believe the NC is decided on the field, how the regular season playout sets up NCG.
playoff will still be subjective to voters whims & self intrests, computors, tidal ebb & flow, & ESPN's editoial needs.
Factors that determine a champion in a playoff - seeding, injuries, flu, weather, grilfriends, bounce of the ball, bad calls, fatique especially with travell. Now I agree, these same factor effect regular season.
with bigger body of work, they have less of effect.
Quite franklly, I don't think it fair to the players, injuries could be million dollar mistakes to the players

Ax, did you know that in the last 28 yrs, the 2 best teams met in BB tour final twice.
[now I'm not saying BB should change] But how is that a true national champ.
Danny Manning got hot, after milking the season.
Villanova shoots light out once in 100yrs
AX, don't get me wrong, I love CBB, I love NCAA tour, I love conf tour, I even love the NIT.
But look at MAC BB, one bid conf.
the whole conf season is one big pratice & set exabitions games waiting for the conf tourn.
yeah it sets up seedings, but major injury, flu, slip on the floor might determine conf tour.
how is that a true or fair champion
