I lost count too so I'll just guess as many as Frank Solich.

Quote:Seventeen Ohio University football players -- roughly 14% of the entire team -- have been arrested over the past nine months, but not one player has been suspended or missed a single game this year. For comparison sake, Ohio State had four players arrested during the same period.

Solich, who was convicted of DUI last year, defended his brand of discipline despite criticism from the school newspaper.

Not one player has missed a minute of game time because of misconduct — drug abuse, alcohol offenses and assaults — that led to misdemeanor convictions in Athens Municipal Court. Ten have been convicted, four cases are pending, and three cases were dismissed after the players completed a diversion program that involves counseling and community service. Solich, in his second year at OU after six seasons coaching powerhouse Nebraska, is displeased with the number of arrests but defends his discipline system.
"We think it’s not only fair, but pretty tough," he said.
That's cute. Instead sticking to the subject at hand, you switch to a different sport and link fan blogs that are 2-4 years old. Not even real news links but FAN BLOGS. Sweet life.

Can't Read. Can't Write. Can't State.
Just because it came from a fan blog doesn't make the facts any less true. And we're talking about the same lame athletic department while the same "strict punishment policy will hold him accountable". LOL!
Polish, after that series of black eyes on the athletic program and university, they tightened the straps. On the other hand, we have seen no evidence of this sort of policy at Kent. Specifically, your basketball program. Keep citing fanATIC blogs for your arguments.

Pathetic.
OU fans please excuse polish hammer as he DOES NOT speak for all Kent fans. Great get for you guys! And it will be good for the MAC overall if we continue to upgrade all our bball talent as the league is at the lowest point in the last 10-15 years.

The reality of the MAC in all sports is that you need to take chances and give kids 2nd chances. The stud program builders (see Gary Trent and Geno Ford) just dont go to the MAC schools anymore. I'm not overly proud of some of KSU decisions but to date (knock on wood) none of our 2nd-3rd chances have come back to haunt us with really bad publicity.
Good luck with him.

Word around Birmingham is that the reason he left under mutual agreement was due to failing a drug test.
Somehow when it's a Tyree Evans or Chris Singletary these same trolls are ripping Kent State but when it's this kid it's about taking chances and 2nd chances. BTW, I'm glad I'm not speaking for anybody so naive. 03-2thumbsup
Congrats on the pick up OU! I am real happy for you guys. The MAC's future continues to look bright on paper. Let's hope it carries on over to the court.
Polish, Singletary has been ARRESTED and CHARGED on NUMEROUS occasions w/ MINIMAL punishment.
And so far has only been found guilty of a DUI and a noise violation, was punished (and even punished for something that he is innocent until proven guilty of), unlike so many of those listed above on the BOOBCAT football team, but THANKS ANYWAY! So you've "never puffed or drank during college? You must have been a blast, brahmone" or even made some noise playing cards.

Polish is a complete dullard. Under Ohio's current policy players are booted off the team for their first DUI. At Kent you get a one-game suspension. Kent recruits three-time felons, and hires known violators of NCAA rules, but yet their fans get their panties in a bunch over Ohio accepting a kid without any criminal violations, who our coach has known since he was 14. Can't read, Can't write, Can't think, Can't argue, Can't stay out of jail, Can't State.

Enjoy your beatdown in the Convo next Sunday, Polish.
Current policy? Only because they had so many arrests in Athens, led by none other than the embarassment of Frank the Tank. Three time felon recruited at Kent State? Nice, but I don't think so, kid went there on his own and actually would rather pay to be a part of the program that go to OU for free. Nice to see you clowns continue to prove just how hypocritical you can be.

Nice try, Polish. The fact that Evans isn't on scholarship doesn't change the fact that he is a three-time felon, and that Kent recruited him.

Again, Ohio had a problem three years ago, then instituted the strictest punishment policy in the conference. Meanwhile, Kent's response to its recent string of arrests is to hand out minimal suspensions, while recruiting more felons and hiring NCAA rule violators.

Spin things as much as you want, but the facts are the facts.

Do you have a link or some documentation to support the above? Are discipline policies public record throughout the MAC? I'd be interested to see those policies-I've been unable to find them.

You know nothing, KSU did not recruit Evans, Evans recruited KSU and paid his own way to do so. He had to do the selling job.
=>In all honesty, ripping Ohio and Kent are too different animals. Whether it is justified or not, Kent has earned the reputation of being University of Cincinnati North. Kent last year had much more JUCOs, transfers, and prep schoolers than regular 4 year kids who came to Kent right out of high school. Kent's rep has been soiled as a result and Geno Ford has made no strides to change the perception.

Ohio has not reached that point.

Uh huh. I'm sure that Bobby Steinburg had nothing to do with Evans selecting Kent over several scholarship offers. And if you believe that one, then I've got some properties you might be interested in as well.

Again, walk-on or not, a player of Evans' caliber does not just show up on campus without being recruited in some form or another.
