TO: Tubaguy & othes having attended I Bowl and taken fotos:

Can we have a foto gallery including pics of any large block of NIU fans in the stadium , game action, tailgating, warm ups, bands at halftime etc...

Did the NIU Marching Huskies represent NIU well? What was the halftime show?

Did we match LTU band better than the Troy Band in SJ, Ca.?
louisiana tech dance team = 03-cloud9

northern illinois "silverettes" = 04-chairshot

you are so right!
I do believe I just witnessed the Trojan band at haltime substantially given their dues on ABC.

Apparently the decision to broadcast halftime Rose Bowl shows & highlites is a function of glamour & network choices.
I thought that overall the NIU band was better than LA Tech, but LA Tech's dance team kicked the sh** out of our Silverettes!
I'd love to hear some breakdown's by the dance team experts on here. Other than hotness, what made the LaTech dance team better?
in response to 7

what else matters?
Then just say they are hotter.
I actually wasn't there. Bucfan would be the guy to ask about the band stuff for the bowl game.

have you ever seen us "dance"? our dance during the game was embarrassing, and i am not even exaggerating. one girl was looking at the video board to make sure she was on que. it was horrible
Silverettes suck.

Ugly + Bad Dancers

And a couple need to lose some pounds.
Your band was really good. I was one of the first ones at the pep rally and heard them warm up. I new they were going to be pretty good. They seemed to be very energentic and the music selection was alot better. I really enjoyed listening to them. I wish tech band had some similar music selection. It really helps with the crowd. The only song we have is neck, and one song doesn't really get it for me.

Thanks for the compliment. I loved how your band always got into our songs when they weren't playing. That is really classy.
Our band throughout the weekend was PHENOMENAL

Best I've ever heard them play.

The NIU band is always really good, I'm always bewildered as to why they have been ripped on this board at times by some people. I can certainly understand the criticism of the cheerleaders/silverettes, but the band is typically fantastic.
I had a chance to visit with your fans at the Clarion hotel. I got a NIU Helmet signed for my son by the entire team. I attended the pep rally, etc.
You guys are 100% a Class Act. I think that your crowd was AWESOME. They were loud, polite, just all around wonderful. The Band was great!!! After seeing you guys, you have a fan here in North Louisiana. WTG Huskies. Be proud of what you accomplished. You guys are gonna be atop the MAC for the next few years. Thanks for representing NIU. I hope we provided you all with a nice environment to play in. Thanks again.
Like teams and other entities representing NIU, Huskie marching bands have been very good, average and subpar. They have NEVER been outstanding relative to many other bands.

I reference Ohio 100 as one outstanding model by comparison. Troy band, a very different model, just blew me away rounding the corner downtown in San Jose. Never mind better BT bands which outshine the best of Huskie bands in volume, originality of music composition or shows {Stanford wins hands down} , and the intracacies of maneuvers on the field.

NIU band hit a low valley several years ago and it's making significant strides forward again to match it's claim:
"Pride of the Midwest". Another 50-75 members , greater precision, some more crisp snaps by all members & volume could elevate the band to it's claim to fame.

I had viewde on TV previously many years the Michigan band taking the field but witnessing its entry with military like precision and energy was mind blowing. Huskies ATTEMPT to duplicate the same entry with a whole less energy or precision, but I still look forward to that faux entry onto Huskie Stadium.

One attribute of the NIU band has been steadfast. It truly engages the students, fans, and band alums to the best of its limited resources. My wife and I and others look forward to the vists in West stands the second half of football games to enjoy their efforts.

Like with football facilities & recruiting, until the band is fully funded to offer meaningful scholarships and reasonable music course credits , reaching the next level presents too many hills too steep to climb.
The dance team criticism wasnt based on total hotness, in my opinion. Maybe it was just the dance selections, but LA Tech was upbeat, fast, fun, and got people into it. The silverettes were more slow paced, almost a classical style. Again, it may have been the selections for the weekend, but overall, LA Tech was better on this day.
