You should be ashamed of yourself....

Rice? Really?

38-7? And you Bronco fans are starting threads about CMU for losing by 3 points in their bowl game??
I think it's more a case of IN-BARE-@ss-Ment.
WASTErnURINAL Bow(e)l Record: 0-4

Last bowl victory for Rice: 1954 (2-1) after tonight
Whew, definitely wasn't expecting a score like this one. I thought it would be a close one.
Western Michigan got served and is still in shock over it.
I knew this thread would be coming. Yes, we were shocked at how a very good Rice team shredded the Broncos. IMO, that team would pummel Ball State, as well and for you CMU types, there is a big difference between playing a .500 FAU in your own backyard and travelling to Rice's hometown to face the top QB - WR tandem in NCAA history. I don't think that even if WMU had played their best they would have beaten Rice last night. They were hitting on all cylinders while WMU was misfiring.

How many of you commenting here actually saw the game? I, for one am glad that it was on NFL network, so few saw it. Everything that could have gone wrong, did. There is no shame losing to a better team. The hard part was watching our team lose in the manner that they did and Rice fans said it may have been their best performance of the season.

One other piece of info for you to digest. Something none of us knew about.

I wasn't the one who was talking trash about CMU before our game. That was one WMU fan. I knew that this result was a possibility. This was in the back of my mind as our worst nightmare and it happened. We'll deal with it and move on.

Good luck to UB and Ball State. They, too, have tough opponents to face. I WILL support all MAC teams in their bowl games and leave the petty stuff to others who do it so well and seem to thrive on such juvenile antics.
I'll "inhale" to that.

Seriously? Are Chip fans really comparing a loss to Rice to a loss to the SBC's FAU??!! Seriously? Sorry, I'll take our defeat AAAAAALLL DAAAY if I had to make the choice! Did you guys even watch the games?? Rice is ridiculous and would mock the entire MAC. CMU would probably lose by 50, ESPECIALLY if your stud Danny L. was playing. EMU would crush FAU. Oh wait.......CMU lost to them too.

Nice try. Go back to your 1970's WT campus.

I guess my expectations were too high for a team like WMU who had a marquee victory over a respactable (although overall dissapointing) Illinois teame

Sorry to dive into your the WMU-CMU pissing match but don't make the Rice Owls out to be Texas. Also, just because the Broncos got their asses handed to them by 31 blessed points doesn't necessary mean that Rice would 'mock' the MAC. I think you are just trying to justify getting handled.

They gave up 63 points in a game this season and averaged 34.9 on defense. The fact that they held the Broncos to 278 yards and 7 points may reflect more on your team than theirs......
Broncos scored 14 points, not 7.

Not sure if you watched the game, but I think it's obvious that Hiller's injury completely changed the complexion of the game. A little more consistency in his throws, and Western would have been able to move the ball against Rice. Us Owls know what it's like to have an injury to your QB in a bowl game, and it led to Rice getting blown out against Troy in the NO bowl 2 years ago.

I also think Western may have put up one of the best defensive efforts against Rice this season, outside of Texas and maybe Tulsa. Especially when you consider how long they had to spend out on the field because of their anemic offense. Rice was pretty much able to move the ball at will against their other opponents, and I thought Rice got a few lucky breaks and had to fight harder than usual for yardage against the Broncos.

Also, falling behind early in essentially a home game for Rice, it's easy for things to snowball and be out of reach early.

Yeah, the final result is embarrassing for Western to the general public. But this Rice fan has a lot of respect for how good the Broncos can be, even if it didn't show on the scoreboard on Tuesday.

Oh, please, your rationalization doesn't even pass the "giggle test." Stick to something you know, like, "attempting to sell a Senate seat." Your sharp tongue must really hurt Rod's @ss.

Ok, they scored 14 not 7. My post was not meant as a slight on Rice. Maybe they would waltz thru the MAC, I don't know. If WMU's QB has a serious injury, they have a backup QB and their coach is allowed to put him in. I watched the game FWIW.

I had seen two posts from WMU fans saying that Rice would win the MAC (rather easily the way it has been put). However, in the 2 MAC games WMU lost, they gave up 38 and 42 respectively versus giving up 38 against Rice. That along with many of their folks pinning an entire 38-14 loss on a 'game-changing' bad call by a referee early on indicates that the grapes that they ingested were extremely tart.
