Moore performed like he wanted to play- and Jones showed +++effort!
Cam looked alot more comfortable tonight. This was by far his best game in the green and gold.
Crawford, Jones, and Moore all looked confident. Jones seemed to loosen up a lot towards the end of the game. That was a nice little pass to Crawford at the end for a dunk.

And Crawford's alley-oop was just plain nasty.
Mike Jones is my new hero.
I look for Cam to grow into a Lawrence Kinnard without the long range shooting. Cam seemed comfortable and posted with a smooth style. I think he is going to be a key player in our future.
The first time he posted up and turned and made it I thought he was lucky but by the third time I thought this kid might be a good player. His shot looks like he just turns right into the defenders face and throws it up but it goes in. You would think the defender could block it but I think the defender is just surprised he turns right into him and not to the side. It will be interesting to see how he does against better teams.
The kid is long and has arms that go on and on and on... He seemed to be always around the ball, too. His length is a great asset. Against better bigs he will have a tougher time, but he is also the type player that surprises you, as a defender, with his offensive style and will draw fouls as a result. Just imagine added strength and confidence. And he is a good student.
I was very impressed with Cameron's play last night. The 9pts and 7 rebounds are pretty impressive numbers for a freshman walkon... even though I've heard we're supposed to put him on scholarship next year. I know it was FAU, but if we can get close to 10pts and 10 rebounds from Cameron, that'd be a big boost for our post game. Lou will work with Cameron I'm sure. Once he gets some more weight/muscle on him, Cameron is going to be a very good player I think. And what's even better is that he appears to have solid academics.
Bravo to both Moore and Jones...04-clap2
FAU was a weak team, but their inside players were big, strong and pretty rough: Monroe was all-Sun Belt last year. Moore went right at them, tossing some mean elbows and relishing the contact while he imposed his skinny will on them.

Mayfield would not have made those baskets.

And to hell with "talent." Mike Jones for Terrence Roderick is one of the best trades we've ever made.
Actually, I think it would've been nice to see how Roderick would have played against such a weak team.

I'm plenty happy with Jones. Mainly because he's now a Blazer, and Roderick isn't.
Demarcus who?
I took some video of the game from my camera last night. I got all of Cameron's late buckets. When I watched back, I noticed that the guy guarding Moore looked about 6-2. Nevertheless, he played pretty good, and we need to get him as many minutes as we can before conference play.

I also got video of Mike Jones's 4 points (I think they counted the jumpshot a 2) and his assist at the end. The only thing I missed was Crawford's one-handed alley oop dunk- I know, I know. I'll try to post links whenever I get a chance to load the videos to youtube.
The thing is... Cameron is not afraid to drive to the basket!!! And that's what we need!
I was very impressed by Cameron last night. He was not afraid to post up and wanted the ball down low. He also made a great pass to Crawford underneath the basket the should have been a dunk, but Crawford dropped it.

Davis said on the post game that Cameron has already added about 15 pounds since he got here from working with Lou.
Can cameron get terrence or armon's scholarship?

That's what I was hoping. His grades would probably help out the team if he were to be on scholarship. Besides, he's showing that he *deserves* to have a scholarship anyway.

I was wondering the same thing. If Cameron is supposed to get one next year anyway, why not just go ahead and give one of these two scholarships to him now?
Cameron has great POTENTIAL to become a real contributor in the future. He came here as a walk on when he could have signed a scholly with USA (and others), plus he is a great student. Just the kind of kid we all want CMD to continue to recruit. His frame can take a lot more of Coach Lu's muscle. He is a real bright spot for the future. Also, the transfer Eli Millsaps is looking better and better, I really like this kid's game.

I don't really think next season will be in the tank as some people here believe. It may not be looking as bright as once before, but we'll have some talent. Elijah Millsap, Howard Crawford, AJ, and Cameron Moore will all be back... and will bring with them some much-needed experience. Add to that 2 good, young SGs in Adrien Coleman and Dexter Fields and we've got the makings of a decent team with both some young talent and some more experienced guys.

Hopefully we won't be hit too hard by scholarship reductions as a result of the APR. We already were down to 11. So let's say we take another 2 scholarship loss (hopefully it won't happen, but let's just say that it does). That takes us down to 9 scholarships. At the moment, it's looking like we've got 6 scholarships for 2009 accounted for with Crawford, Moore, AJ, Millsap, Fields, and Coleman. That would leave us with about 3 more scholarships still to fill (hopefully more). So I'd like to see those last 3 spots go to a SF, PF, and a PG. I wouldn't mind a couple of JUCOs since we'll be hurting a little bit in the way of experience, IF they have proven themselves in the classroom.
